Golf Digest on NYC newsstands with Top 100
« on: March 26, 2011, 06:39:04 PM »
Word has it that the Golf Digest edition with the Top 100 list on it has been spotted on newsstands in New York City.  Does anyone have that issue that can post the list?

So Augusta held onto the #1 spot?  That is the first time in Golf Digest's history that Pine Valley wasn't #1 for consecutive surveys.  But I'm with you Mac, how did the other 99 courses shake out?

T89. Boston GC and Old Sandwich

Mountaintop and Diamond Creek...interesting.  Fazio baby.  Don't sleep on Fazio!!

Ballyneal breaks into the Top 100.  Not quite the course that Mountaintop (or Diamond Creek) is, but not too shabby!

:) :)

Also, this would imply no Kinglsey.  Huh?

old macdonald would be too new.

Kingsley not making it means the ratings are garbage.  Forest Dunes is good but it is no Kingsley.  Though, Forest Dunes does more accurately reflect the Golf Digest type course.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.

Alotian debuting at #14 is the big news here.  I'm guessing that would make it either the best or 2nd best course built in the 2000s, depending on where Pac Dunes is (it was 14th last time).

I don't know much about this course other than both Jim F and Andy T have it as their favorite or among their favorite Fazio's.

Is this another case of Golf Digest awarding special bonus points for ultraexclusive, autocratic private-estate type courses (see Rich Harvest, Canyata, etc)?

Interesting that three of the new courses are Fazio.  There were 13 Fazios on the 2009/2010 list.  I wonder if there will be 16 on this new list or if some of the existing 13 Fazio courses fell off the list.

Alotian does have members, no?  While super exclusive always probably gets you an somewhat enhanced rating, my thought is that if it is number 14, then it is REALLY good....

Assuming you meant Alotian, I believe Brad posted that it didn't get enough raters out.

Sean,

I think the other one's have limited members as well (Canyata may, in fact, have only one).

It is official: Pac Dunes is 15th, so that makes Alotian the best golf course built in the U.S. in the 2000s, according to Golf Digest.

I wonder if there is some sort of middle ground between what Digest raters see and what GW raters see. :o

I am interested to see where Black Rock comes in after its surprise high ranking last time....Wouldn't totally surprise me if it fell out of the Top 100, to be honest..
