Gents,
As the weather warms, I'm getting the golf bug again. To that point here are a few pics from our trip to Ireland last June. It was a lot of driving but we were able to play some great courses. It did not rain for seven days and the hospitality was excellent as well.
All of the courses were memorable but Ballybunion and Portmarnock particularly stood out.
RCD - The best golf turf on which I have played
Does it get much better than this?
What a golf hole
A worthy detour
The excellent topography of Royal Portrush Valley. I really enjoyed this course, especially the stretch from 5 - 10. And as luck had it, local Graeme McDowell won the US Open that week.
Picturesque RP
Calamity
Rosses Point - Sligo was much more enjoyable than expected. It certainly met its 7 Doak rating to me.
A three hour round amidst splendor...
Lahinch - Brown is beautiful. The course met CGA specs to say the least.
A friendly forecaddie
Bally on a long summer's eve. No better place to be...
I'll agree with Tom Watson
Is there a better par 4 in the world?
Dooks - Was a step back architecturally to me, but nevertheless enjoyable
Portmarnock. It took us a while to find the entrance, but what a track! After stopping by the K Club we agreed that Portmarnock would have been an excellent venue for the Ryder Cup.
A really fun and challenging 3 par. The clubhouse brunch was also first class.
I hope you enjoyed the photos. All the advice and info on GCA made this trip one to remember.
