Guys,

I love the idea of buying flags. What sort if price do they tend to sell for?

A pair of pliers and/or some good wire cutters and a nice course flag can be had at no price.

Ken, I'd be careful about getting too close to that bin of putters.  Recent scientific research shows that if a guy gets too close to that many pussy covers at the same time, he will spontaneously grow breasts and a vagina.

The intermediate step?

Best laugh of the day*. Thanks.

*And it's been a good day, too -- including the story of a legislative page who, on his first day of work, back in the '40s, was called upon to retrieve a state legislator's watch ... which he'd dropped into a spittoon.

P.S. Just nominated "man cave" for Lake Superior State University's annual list of "banished words." My nomination form read, under "reason for banishment": "Men are starting to talk about their own "man caves"! That's reason enough. It was fine when women used it, with its built-in quality of sarcasm -- but really, men! The word is "den." Or "garage." Or "rec room." But not "man cave"!

Dan, you mention "The word is "den." Or "garage." Or "rec room." But not "man cave"!".

In Australia it is "Shed" the man part of it is a given, it's implied.  In my wee world my "Man-Cave" is a bookcase filled to overflowing with golf books and two forlorn trophys garnered in the course of my non-illustrious career; stories for another day. Upon reading this thread I thought, for a moment, that my set-up could be described as a man-hole but that could be misconstrued!!

Mine's in the garage, which is under my living room...

Decorated thusly:

OK Ken, it was all just fun and games until you had to go ahead and post this picture.  As a guy who still plays my old Zebra (much to the chagrin of my buddies when I keep making putts on them) and has ever increasing difficulty finding real original zebra headcovers.  Then someone has to come along and flaunt such an excess of riches that he not only has many Zebra headcovers but so many that he just keeps 4 of them laying around out in his garage.

You sicken me.  You my friend have some deep rooted problems collecting that much of some particular item.

I however am completely normal and well adjusted and my near maniacal collection of bag tags is completely healthy.  Since my man-cave is done entirely in MN Vikings Purple and Gold, my home office is my golf shrine.  These are from about a year ago of my bagtag collection.  I am at 901 and counting.  My 6yr old likes coming down to my office when I return from a trip and ask me where I played golf this trip and helping me put the new tags up.

I love when I get stuck on a particularly long, boreing, or aggravating conference call or webinar (or if I am just having a bad day at work) I can kick back in my chair and look around the room and reminisce about great rounds of golf with friends.  It is good therapy.

Not that I need therapy... who said I need therapy... I am perfectly well adjusted... leave me alone...

I too am extremely jealous of the Zebra's.  Best product ever made by Ram.  The only criticism is that the head covers were poorly woven and wore too quickly.  My hazy memory recalls that as a teenager I went entire weeks without missing a single putt from any distance!

Don't have a picture, but have many golfing things on the walls, even though my girlfriend is "encouraging" me to move them to one room, the TV room / spare bedroom!

Pride of place would have to be a framed Tiger Woods scorecard from a European Tour event. It's his actual card from when he played and won, he played alongside Lee Westwood. Incredibly hard to get hold of, never seen another one available anywhere.

Got flags, prints of Cypress Point, course maps of Oakmont, St Andrews, Augusta and Cypress Point and a lovely photo of Merion along with an old newspaper map of Sunningdale.

Always looking to collect more things on my travels.

Here is mine.  When we finished the basement, my better 2/3rds basically let me organize and purchase what I wanted.  It was obvious that she had a master plan all along.  One day shortly after the basement was finished, she came downstairs when I was sitting in the chair and says, "Where do want me to put all of this golf s***?"  She was standing there with an armful of photos, pictures, etc. from what used to be the den upstairs which is now a sitting room.

First, photos, bag tags of current and former clubs.  I used to have more, however a house fire 10 years ago destroyed several items.  The hickory clubs belonged to my great grandfather.

My Nebraska Sand Hills Wall.

Behind the wall is where the extra clubs, cards and other golf items go.

Jason- Who the hell needs picture in picture when you got three flat screens? That had to cost you some jewelry or a new kitchen at a minimum. Nice.

Ken,

 How's your short game?

 Thanks for sharing.

  Jim

It carries my crappy long game.  Yesterday I had shot 43 on the back nine with SEVEN one putts.

My brother, whose index hovers around scratch, says I hit it like a 20 and chip and putt like a 2... hence my 11.something index.

How often do you workout to the 'Denise Austin' DVD? :)

Can I come over next Thursday through Sunday to watch the first two rounds?

Ken - how much for the Cameron Futura?

Those two are on the A team.  I flattened the lie about 7 degreeson them  , and now they are almost perfect.  Almost, because I like lighter putters for slow greens, so I have a couple that get used for that duty.

Michael,

Very little on the Denise Austin.  P.S.  I am having a March Madness shin dig Friday 6pm, the keg shows up on Thursday.  Anyone on this board is welcome if you are in the KC area.  Zip me a PM for directions.

Tim, I have not figured out the true “cost” of this basement.... yet.

I actually have four Tour Milled mallets among 15-20 Zebras I own. Two of them are the model in the picture, the other two are much smaller and almost square.  One is heel-shafted and the other is center-shafted but they both have a version of the Zebra double-bend shaft. I also have a few Zebra "blades."

My answer may be a different slant....

My REAL man-cave at home has NOTHING at all to do with golf!  Juke Box, Pool Table, Dart Board, HD Tele, with all things related to rock-n-roll, muscle cars, 50's diners, nawlins and such.  Purposely set up that way.  However...

my den/family room down stairs is decorated to look like more of a clubhouse then a den.  Golf art, old and new adorn the walls. A glass-top coffee table with 50 years of collectibles (starting with stuff my dad collected) including balls, tees, bag tags, score cards, memorabilia, etc.  Shelves full of golf books and other golf stuff.  Probably my mosy prized item is the 1966 scorecard from Kasumigaseki Country Club in Japan signed by Nicklaus, Palmer and Player from the practice round they played before filming thye "Big Three" event the next day at Hirono.  Only competition card I know of with all three signatures on it.

Then there is my office which most people will tell you is one of the biggest golf man-caves they have ever seen.  30 years worth of design and collecting of a lot of stuff I don't even remember from where it came.  Sorry, no pictures, but you are all welcome to stop by when you are in the area.

My Man Cave holds a bunch of stuff from my main sporting passions:

Chicago Bulls
Chicago Bears
Chicago White Sox
Fighting Illini Basketball
Olympia Fields
Beverly
The Masters
Pebble Beach
Bandon Dunes

I have large framed photos from all of the above and framed jerseys of former Illini players, Dee Brown and James Augustine from the 2005 team that lost in the National Finals.  I have some US Open memorabilia from my stint as Greens Chairman and some columns that I wrote during the Open for the Chicago Sun-Times.  I have a Steve Stricker autographed tour bag with some collector clubs.  I have big replicas of the Chicago Tribune's sports page for all six Bulls Championships, and I was there for most of the games, including some on the road.  Probably the coolest stuff, however, is from the 2005 World Series championship because my most prized sports spectator moment was being at the game with my dad where Paul Konerko hit a grand slam.  Priceless, as they say.
