If you're anything like me, you've probably compiled a lot of golf momentoes - flags, logo balls, scorecards, books, etc. I started collecting flags in lieu of buying golf shirts in the pro shop.
Most of this stuff makes its way into my den, aka my Golf Man Cave.
Feel free to post your own and perhaps talk about some of your prized possessions.
Below:
- The diplomas are going to eventually be replaced by a 4x6 foot Ballyneal layout done by my mural-painting wife, just as soon as she finishes the kids rooms (2 down, 1 to go)
- On top of the bookshelf is lone golf achievement - the 1997 Sycamore Cup trophy (won by me and my partner, fellow GCAer Jeff Tang).
- Prized non-golf momento: Willie Stargell bobblehead
- Not shown (in the bookshelf): a Hole-In-One certificate for my late grandfather's lone ace, in 1989 after playing the game for probably 50 years. He's the reason I play this game.
- More flags and an assortment of trademark orange Illini hats in various shades of sun-drenchedness
- For Tim Bert...a framed poster of the Composite Course at Blackwolf Run from the '98 Womens Open. This will soon be replaced by four 16x20 black and white pics I had made from canvasondemand.com (thanks Groupon!)
I also have shoeboxes full of golf scorecards and yardage books, not pictured
I'll take the liberty of posting my buddy Jimbo Tang's golf cave. He takes a much classier approach to hanging up his flags. Plus I like the symbolism of the blank frame representing the next, great golf adventure. Deep stuff!
