NJ Gathering Early March?
« on: February 22, 2011, 02:26:16 PM »
After hearing a gathering of Jersey Guys met a few days ago because of cabin fever, I was thinking of planning a Jersey Outing maybe the first or second Saturday in March at my club Little Mill in the Jersey Pines.  Little Mill is private track over in Marlton, NJ, about 40 minutes from Philly and a stones throw from Pine Valley.  I was talking to my pro about a group rate and we talked about 50 bucks a man if we get about 20 or more folks.  If anyone is interested, let me know and I will start trying to put stuff together. Don't know what the weather will be like, but it would be fun.

Count me in Rick.  Sounds like a great idea.  In fact, something similar may be in the works at my club as well.

Rick:

Great idea -- but late March likely works better.

Rick,

We got 6.5 inches of snow in West Milford on Monday.

Are you talking about skiing or golf ?

I will always love Little Mill, it is where my dad taught me the game in 1973. My Mom used to drop me off at the course in the morning and I would play all day as a single. (It was only 18 holes back then.)  Thankfully, the were a great group of members who would just wave me through. I probably played 54 holes on about 40 different days. Geeze, now that I think about it, I should be better at this game...

Pat,

We played golf in that area of New Jersey this weekend, no problem.  I'm guessing the snow cover and climate is vastly different in the Philly area than it is in the Northern-most part of the state.

It would be a fun trip, as long as the weather cooperates.

John--

One would think, and I love your youthful optimism, but as I type this from the Tavistock bar I'm staring at six inches of snow across the patio.  For once, I agree with Matt Ward .  :). Late march seems a lot more doable.

Maybe we will look to sometime in spring or summer instead. It is a nice course. Perhaps we could arrange for some drinks, lunch, and guest speaker? I will keep you guys posted

I'm game Rick.  Could this be a 27 hole affair?

Rick,

Have not played Little Mill in years.

When you figure out a date let me know, no conflict and I am in.

It's a quote from the movie Clerks, directed by that NJ native Kevin Smith (aka Silent Bob).

Completely missed that.

Maybe we should try to make it a 37 hole outing.

Rick,

Sounds like fun, I am interested, however I don't arrive in the area until 25/26 March.
