If for no other reason than snapping up a resource that's just jam-packed with "primary source" information from many great historic clubs and courses, I'd have thought you would have procured a copy by now.

I think you'd enjoy it, as it is written very objectively, and there is more actual architectural material and historical documents presented within than any book I've ever seen.

If it is going to be one of the seminal books on golf architecture I assume there is wealth of information on golf architecture in the book. Specifically what are some of the interesting tid bits you picked up regarding golf architecture? What are some of the interesting bits you picked up about Flynn?

The Nature Faker is an outstanding book with tons of information about the life and golf courses of William Flynn.  It is and will continue to be an outstanding resource of information of the original layout and evolution of all of Flynn's courses.  There's an immense amount of first hand material including letters and Flynn's drawings that make the book worth reading for any fan of the Golden Age of Architecture.  

If you want to know what happened, the realizations inside, and the information the book contains; then you ought to go ahead and purchase the book.

I haven't read the current version of the book but I did read an earlier draft which was about the same length. Its massive length is due to all the information on every club Flynn touched, almost a mini club history of each course, and with the more prominent clubs additionally you have a detailed tournament history. All that extraneous info takes away from what should be, I believe, the primary focus, Flynn and his architecture.

On the other hand it is on a disc, so I guess you could self edit it. But some day I'd like to see an actual bound volume on my book shelf next to other books on similar architects. Unfortunately in its present form The Nature Faker would be a multiple volume set and would take up an entire shelf, not unlike The Encyclopedia Britannica.

 I've had some time now to peruse the cd and its pdf file is only 304 MB.. would that fill an iPAD??  

Its been a very very interesting and enjoyable read and look for me and despite some minor issues i have with the compilation/presentation, it is very much worth the price.

.. is that really WF on the left in the pic on page 34?

.. did I really note a thanks to Tom MacWood for some info?  ..in perspective, funny how some gca thread insults that are really only bantering get carried away and real things are appreaciated; there is a line however.

I've advised Wayne that he needs to have the pdf file bookmarked or have a linked table of contents to allow easier navigation. I found myself going back to the table of contents and jumping to different sections rather than trying the read it serially, as my initial impression was one big run-on sentence, kinda like TEP's old gca thread style.  

I would think a "condensed" version could be produced that was very focused and fit on a coffee table.

I was scratching my head on why the TEP Maintennace Meld section at the very end had to be included without any direct reference at all to Flynn or his courses' maintenance other than by general association.

Overall, Great effort!
