I nominate Castlegregory Ireland (2005)
Ninth tee if I'm not mistaken.

I love the simplicity of the Oakmont bench.

And I don't mind saying I also kind of like the simple bench I made at Midlane, using 2 x 8 lumber. The trash can had matching wooden slats. I think we made all of them for less than what you would spend on buying two or three benches from a catalog.

The bench, ballwasher, liter ensemble at Gleneagles is very nicely done, in a square edged bed of brick red stone.

Cyprus Point uses the materials at hand - this bench from a tree that no doubt fell way back, probably from the time the club was founded. I'm sure there's a story behind this one.

This one might win the award for most simple of all.

What about the one behind the 8th tee at Old Macdonald. Great view of the course and of the Pac Ocean !

There's also the bench behind the 17th tee at Bandon Dunes.
It's all about the golf!

The one half way between the 15th and 16th at Friars Head is probably my favorite.  The only way to improve it would be to hide a cooler underneath.

There is a great bench built into the wall just behind the 15th green and 16th tee at North Berwick, which overlooks the children's course also.  It is featured prominently in Michael Robin's documentary about Old Macdonald.  But, it's not really for the golfers so much as it is for the citizens and onlookers.

Bench on the 14th tee at Pacific Dunes with Dan King.

I wonder how much they have to pay Dan to just sit there all day, every day?   Or does he pay them?

Prof Moriarity,
I hear they grow some powerful stuff in SW Ore and NW Cal. That could answer your question.

Bench located behind the back tee of Spyglass Hill's 3rd hole.  Dedicated to the late father of past head pro Bill Sendell.

I would love to include pictures I have taken, but I have never figured out how to post them... doesn't seem to work.

With all the beauty in front of you, hopefully you have taken a glance over your right shoulder and have seen it... or better yet walked up and sat in it.  You'll agree it could be the greatest bench in the world.

I love Gleneagles with a passion, but who on earth thought that striping was a good idea? Just awful.

Mark,

Yes. I copied that pic from this thread. It appears to be one of the most unique golf courses in the world.

Yale has an extra long bench directly behind the back tee on Yale`s 13th which is their redan hole. Great spot for a quick rest after the trudge up 12.

if i remember correctly I think it was at Northland that the benches were made by someone at the club...they were of a beautiful wood, simple and classic, with the club logo on them
199 played, only Augusta National left to play!
