If you stayed at a Talamore condo, you can have access to their "partners."

Uh oh. Let's hope somebody doesn't lose his ID over this topic this time.

Hope not...I jumped through major hoops to get on. If it's gone public I may have to revise my opinion. It seems that many people on this site like what Mr. Trump is doing so maybe he should buy it and turn it into a high end facility. I missed the spa treatment after the round actually. Hole #3 is good but it might look better with a waterfall.

Yep..that was tragic, but inevitable.

How does a course going public change your opinion of the course?  Just curious.

Mark-Provided the maintenance budget remains sufficient to service the golf course it should not make any difference. As discussed before on this board the lines sometimes become blurred when some of the private club perqs go out the window.

I considered joining Dormie when I first heard it was going to be a private course.  Now that it is public I don't care if I ever play it.  Not all movies play the same in different theaters.

Maybe not public--just not as private as the members think.

Except if you go on a vacation on a Talamore Resort package.

My own club is private...except for the reciprocal play we allow from certain other clubs...and except for the Monday outings we allow 20-30 times a year...and except for the amateur and professional tournaments we host from time to time. But if that sort of thing offends you, perhaps better for you not to join Columbia Country Club. But your objection as a non-member does not change my club's private status in the slightest.

Doesn't this thread come up every other month like clockwork?

The Dormie Club is evolving into a superb course. I walked it in late Fall and it had a solid routing and good to great holes throughout. So long as it's run properly, whether private, semi-private or upscale public...a great experince should be the result. It could be one of C&C's best with a few more years to settle in and mature.
"I said in a talk at the Dunhill Tournament in St. Andrews a few years back that I thought any of the caddies I'd had that week would probably make a good golf course architect. We all want to ask golfers of all abilities to get more out of their games -caddies do that for a living." T.Doak

Wrong.  If they say they are private, they are private.
I get it, you are mad at the world because you are an adult caddie and few people take you seriously.

Excellent spellers usually lack any vision or common sense.

I know plenty of courses that are in the red, and they are killing it.
