Last I heard from Mike (Keiser) it was still 12 holes.  But, now that we've cleared a little, maybe Bill (Coore) found another hole.  I've got some pics of the site, maybe I can figure out how to post them - that'd be a first for me.

Just came in from the par three project..........what continues to stand out is the beauty of the spot....great views everywhere.....as well as the quality and character of the ground, some of the bumpiest little sand dunes imaginable, with significant fall from east to west, tumbling down into the Cut Creek delta by the sea.

Wonderful variety of looks and golf holes emerging from the sand.

Beautiful weather on the coast....the best of winter golf here.

Here is a picture of the view from BD #13 tee of the burning/clearing happening across Cut Creek on January 20-21 2011.

Thanks

I just looked at Grieve's photo and was thunderstruck by how perfect the winter conditions looked.  And then saw your post.  What a place!

It kind of reminds me back when they were clearing the woods for Bandon Trails. It didn't look like much back then but looks great today.

I will be at the resort next week and will try to take a look.

Now you're talking, Mr. Grieve......that's the image that suggests the quality of golf and view out there.

The new hole/green, the one that Mr. Coore found, & that bumps the routing from 12 to 13, is just a little bit closer to the beach than the one in your image.

More great weather here today.

Josh asked me to post some of the site pics he referred to in reply #5 above:

I understand from Josh that these photos were taken by Wood Sabold, the resort's photographer.

Thanks Ed, for posting on behalf of Josh.

It looks v. different now, as there is significant progress on at least 6 holes....moving native plants out of the way of construction, taking the organic matter (beachgrass, etc.) off the top of green locations, sand haul onto tee areas....all on the west end.

The routing is, in general, similar to the plan shown, but with an addition of a hole west of the fifth, which changes the routing numbers from 6 on, 6 being 7, etc.  Also there are changes in 3, 4, 5, but in general the flow and hole directions are the same.

The tight spot is between 2 tee/hole and 12 tee/green (shown as 11)....1 and 13 have enough room.

Thanks Tom,

Yes #2 and (new#12) look tight for sure, but looks to me like are tight with the Trails putting green etc... or not??? Just seems tight overall, but we'll see, fun!

Stormy week ahead for Bandon....

Joe, On my trip next week I'm staying for 4 nights, with 4 1/2 days of golf. I do think the Beach Loop will be a great track for that day when you are not quite up for 36, or the guys who just can't quite do 36. I do hope they keep Shorty's up at the range. Sharty's is a great way to enjoy a later afternoon before dinner.

With the longest hole being around 165 yards, I think you could go around with just four clubs.

I would take a PW, 8, 6, and a putter. What clubs would you take?
