Is a hole which turns at 90 degrees not the worst type of golf hole?

I ask, can anyone cite a 90-degree dogleg that's actually a good hole? And, if so, how so?

# 13 at Augusta National and # 14 at Boca Rio are pretty good holes.

I wish I knew how to post an aerial.  I just pulled Google Maps satellite view, # 13 looks closer to 45* than 90*.

Bill,

If it's over 60* I'll eat your Footjoys.

It may PLAY 90* but the centerlines intersect at about 45*.

Bill, Pat,

This is pretty rough (and may reduce your potential post count) but hope it helps.

Ask not what GolfClubAtlas can do for you; ask what you can do for GolfClubAtlas.

Isn't that hole a Par 5?

3rd Hole at Braemar CC. 85 degrees or so. It's a par 5 that plays Driver-9I for many.

Paul, why would you hit your tee shot into the trees?  Every yard left of that line is a degree or two off that 65*.  But it was never close to 90*.

I think you're right, Bill. I carried the bunker in the AM and it was as thrilling a shot as there is at RSG, in the afternoon foursomes Mayday kindly let me discover the joys of approaching from 50 yards left of the fairway bunker ;D Easy birdie!

Interesting.  Mayday hit that same tee shot off the 16th tee at Littlestone!

The problem with your red lines is that they assume that's the line of play golfers aim/take.
The red line representing the drive is an aggressive line, and certainly not the centerline of the fairway off the tee.
Most drives are right of that line which brings the angle closer to 90 degrees.
For those talented few who hit it long with a draw, the angle again comes closer to 90 degrees.
