Golf in Mumbai
« on: January 18, 2011, 11:58:39 PM »
I may need to travel to Mumbai in a few weeks.  Anyone know if there are any decent courses?  Don't need anything great -- just looking for a somewhat representative cultural experience.  Thx

I would looking for something old and Colonial .

Probably Bombay Presidency Golf Club would be my choice.

Thanks Brian. Yes, old school colonial is exactly what I'm thinking.  Any others in that vein?

Carl,

I was confused by Presidency Club.  I knew it as Chembur and never got around to playing it.  It has the reputation as being by far the best course in Bombay.  At least it used to.  I've played the Willingdon Club.  Quite a poor course by GCA standards but have not played it in 15 years and it's probably better.  Let me know if you need an introduction.  There is also the US Club which I played once.  It had the narrowest fairway I've ever seen, maybe 5 yards wide lined by trees.
