There has to be a Cincinnati person here....4 way chili and_______ for golf (my brother attended U of Cincinnati).

My brother & nephew did the Geno's v Pats cheese steak experiment 2 weeks ago.......As I recall they both liked Geno's a bit more as the provolne made a difference, but my brother liked Pat's roll more.

The Cincinnati Chili is good, but....18 at Camargo and a slab of ribs at the Montogomery Inn is near impossible to beat!  The Gregory family in Cincinnati are the Ribs King(s)!

Any steak in Phil's Grill at Grayhawk!

I did enjoy the burger on Ben's Porch, but I'd give a nod to the HUGE burger at the turn at Sutton Bay.

Didn't they hire away the milkshake guy from Castle Pines?

On a couple of occasions when I've had the pleasure of hosting VIPs at Wolf Point the maintenance crew has been kind enough to pit roast lamb served with homemade corn tortillas and green salsa accompanied by iced down Modelo Especial. I believe the guests approved of the menu and the golf. The fact that some of these guys are GCA members and they haven't listed me as the greatest greenkeeper in the world has endangered future invitations. (I should get nominated on the food alone)

On my regular Sat pm game we often keep it simple by grilling sausage made up of 60% wild pig and 40% venison, all harvested from the surrounding ranch land as part of our wildlife management program. We usually eat pretty well.

I'm hoping that when Hancock is there you make him go to McDonalds.

Jeff - in my imagination, I will one day start a morning in late October with a traditional english breakfast at Walton Heath, in the company of a very old member, and after playing 18 with him will have a steak and kidney pie and a pint of the local brew in the company of the club professional, sharing stories and histories; and then after playing 18 more with another old member, I would have late afternoon tea, with shortbread cookies and those little sandwiches, and tea and milk; before playing a final nine alone as the sun went down and then retiring to my rooms to freshen up and dress for dinner with the Secretary, which dinner would be a vegetable soup followed by rare roast beef along a carafe of their finest claret, and then coffee.  And then I'd move to the lounge to sit by the fire with a glass of bourbon and a book. I have no idea if that's the type of food Walton Heath has, but in my imagination it should!

Peter

Believe it or not Peter the specialty at Walton Heath is tounge sandwiches! Alas, they were out of them the day I played, but the shrimp scampi was delicious, washed down by a local ale whose name escapes me. A wee dram of scotch and a cigar while sitting on the patio brought a delightful end to a great 36 hole day!

Nice touch at Pine Valley with the Turtle soup. . MPCC shore chilli or sandwich at halfway house is as good as it gets. The burgers on hotdog buns at Olympic Club are pretty good living as well. The ginger snaps at Mountain Lake half way house before the Redan is special special. The same ginger snaps at NGLA but the next hole does not command my attention like the redan does.

Pete - thanks much. Alas, once again real life (in the form of a tongue sandwich) clashes  with my imaginings. On the other hand you did finish the day with a cigar and a scotch, which works for me just fine. Glad to know you've had the chance to play there. When I think golf course, WH is still the first course that comes to mind.

For events, Windsong Farm puts together a bacon and egg sandwich that absolutely sets you straight.  The bacon is about 1/2 inch thick and the egg is cooked to perfection with yolk and cheese spilling out as you bite in.   Teamed with a local pint of Summit Pale Ale, it's a great start to 18 holes.

-Disclaimer...I've never had this sandwich after an early night, so my judgement may be biased.

I'm going with a totally off-the-radar pick on this one.  Back in the day a buddy of mine and I used to hit up the local muni in Morro Bay, CA for a twilight round that cost us about $12.  Usually got 18 in.  Then we'd head down to the embarcadero and grab some hand carved roast beef sandwiches at the Hofbrau.  Extra au jus.  Those were the days...

How about 8am off Merion West, then five minutes away to Garrett Hill in Villanova for a lunch of chicken cheese steak with onions and peppers (an old college haunt of mine).  Then back to Merion for 1pm on the East, then the drive into Philly for dinner at Pat's -- forget Geno's.

The best burger I've ever had is in the grille at Merion.  Have it with a Pine Valley chaser or Redhook in a frozen Merion Mug (or both).

Many moons ago, at KP I, JB, JK, Gib?, perhaps a few others and I (A) played Barona Creek; (B) enjoyed libations at the US Grant; and (C) ate wonderful Persian food (barg, soltani and joujeh kabob, mostly) at the Persian joint with the red awning a couple blocks away.  Memorable to this day for me as one of the great golf/food combo days of my life,

I want to think Wigler was there.  Where did we eat the night that King brought his Scotch tasting selections and Huntley told stories?  I would say that was the largest gathering of my life where I considered everyone in the room a friend.

Barney,
It was Pete L's house!
And his IPA was fantastic!

Maderas and Arrogant Bastard at a KP
Galloping Hill and hot dogs at 5 corners with Birch beer as a kid

My favorite is Wolf Point with Don and Ben and the Tacos --- I bring my own Arrogant Bastard though - my favorite beer since the King's putter.
The crew doesn't care for it much...

Cheers

Golf followed by lunch at Bulls Bay was awesome, despite the temperatures in the 40s and the rain.  The Italian chicken sandwich there might be the best thing I have ever eaten at a golf course.

It's a fairly nondescript town course, but a round at New Britain, CT's Stanley Golf Course followed by hot dogs at Capitol Lunch is a pretty killer combination.  Likewise, any course in the Hartford vicinity following or followed by a grinder at Franklin Ave. Giant Grinders (for me, a chicken cutlet grinder with sauce and cheese is a transcendent meal) would be just fine by me as well.

I can't remember what course my father and I played in Scotland the day we ate at The Peat Inn, but that was a hell of a day, no matter what course we played.

Oh, I love those spicy sausages!  But, for the best sausage/golf combo, you would need to play Inverness in Toledo, Ohio, and then go across town for Tony Packo's Hungarian Hot Dogs! ;D

I thought this was more food on the course. The first time i played at Oly Club with Gib we ate at Joe's in Westlake. It was great fun but hardly legendary apre golf chow.  Crail and Cruden Bay both have lengendary places to eat apre golf. I think the Cypress Point mens locker room urinals overlooking 16 are special and get ones mind right for golf.
