Tim, that's a sound, not an ocean.

Paul, does it surprise you that a corporate entity tosses corporate advertisers on a list?  Only question is, Tiger's when?-to-be-built course, Punta Brava.

Ron-It didn`t occur to me that the distinction between the sound and open ocean was in play. Thanks.

Ron,

"Tim, that's a sound, not an ocean."

By that logic the Old Course can't be considered as it is against the North SEA and NOT an ocean...

Tim...I forgot my smiley face...wait, I never use them because I find them cutesy...I should have punctuated my "sound" comment with a hearty har-har...I don't suspect that there is any logic beyond $$$$$ to any golf chanel (it's now a perfume) list.

Philip,

I resent "and all."  "And all" is pretty good in Buffalo.

For a guy that has nicknamed himself "Tricks" it`s hard to believe that you would consider a smiley face cutesy. Just sayin. :) :) :) :)

Mac,

With the amount of surfing going on at the beach in Lahinch, it would be hard to argue its not on the ocean.  It gets my vote over Old Head and Portmarnock.

Where is Pete Dye's Teeth of the Dog ? ::)

One other thing -- for breath of the view nothing can beat Old Head -- now, if one factors into the equation the quality / lack thereof of the actual architecture -- well, that another story. ;D

Their list doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

I'll take a stab at these:                 Cypress Point
                                                                       Pebble Beach
                                                                       Fishers Island
                                                                       Casa de Campo
                                                                       Bandon, Pacific, Old Mac
                                                                       Royal Dornoch
                                                                       Nanea
                                                                       Ocean Course at Kiawah
                                                                       Old Head
                                                                       Turnberry

                                                                                    Honorable mention:   Kapalua Plantation, Seminole

Greg:

My inclusion of Old Head was based on sheer beauty of the course next to the outstanding views provided.

I never said the architecture of Old Head is bulletproof -- just the views provided.

Greg-  I have not played Cabo del Sol, but  from what I've read and seen it certainly could be on the list.  .  I'm in agreement with Matt- Old Head has unreal beauty and astounding vistas..   the property is amazing.
