I'll be down at Fox Club, Windsor, Winston Trails, and a ***few others*** next week and wanted to see what insights the treehouse might have about what to look for architecturally.
I've never played a Pat Ruddy course before, but I know that Eoghan O'Connell is a big fan of great GCA. What does one look for in a Pat Ruddy design? Has anyone seen Fox Club?
Winston Trails is a Joe Lee design, and looks like what you'd expect from Joe, a good challenge for excellent golfers with asn emphasis on what was trendy on the 70s and 80s and an extension of Dick Wilson's concepts, much like Quail Ridge.
By the way, everyone was spot on about Quail...they are the home of senior Amateur golf and their passion is infectious and inspiring - nice, fun people and a lot of excellent golfers.
I know Windsor is an RTJ Jr. with the houses recessed and a lot of earth moved to make for elevation change. Anyone played it?
I had a really nice time at Delray Dunes when I was there. Every hole was different and the greens had some excellent interior contours and chipping areas. As usual with Dye, i hit every club in the bag and he had me off-balance all the time. draw one minute, fade the next. I also love his work at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie and will start a separate thread on that.
Everyone have a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year!!!
