Pretty happy here on Kiawah Island with the way ticket sales for 2012 PGA are going:

Mike:

I saw a similar article in the Times this morning. Congrats on all the interest from fans. All signs are pointing to me heading down there that week for the PGA, in case any other GCAers will be down there perhaps we can plan a happy hour. But thankfully we still have 19 months to plan :) ;)

Thats good news. How are things going with the preparation of the golf course, are there any significant changes being made ?

Tom Meeks, who oughta know, once told me that the Ocean Course is the most difficult golf course in America.  Personally, I would love to see them set the course up a little tougher than the usual PGA Championship setup.  I'm not asking for a Tom Meeks setup!  They'd probably quit after nine holes...

I haven't played the Ocean Course, but would agree that it would be cool to see it maxed out.

No Rough
Easyish hole locations
Max yardage and pray for wind

When they played the Ryder Cup,  many tees were moved up.

There are so many ways to make double or worse, pretty quickly,   versus routine USOpen/PGA set-up with some combination of trees/deep rough/quick greens, etc.  Those are often hack out and proceed.  Much different at Kiawah. Haven't played Whistler,  but Kiawah just seems much tighter than Whistler.

I hope the wind blows for 2 or 3 days.   Letting the ball hang in the air for 300 yards probably will not work on a windy day.  I think a Euro is very likely to win again.
