Greg, leave me in for now (as you've done).  I have a hockey game that night (just floor hockey, nothing too exciting), but I think it's at 10:00, so I should be able to make it for most of the evening.

Wow, that was a fun 2.5 hrs to snowblow my little drive. 4' drifts and that 6 club wind.

Snowblow?  Snowblow?

Next thing you know, you're gonna tell us you ride carts, wear a backwards baseball cap indoors and use a cheater line!  :)

What most people don't know is that Shivas carries two shovels -- a long one, for the big driveway, and then the traditional-length shovel for more intricate work like the front stoop and sidewalks.

OK guys, I have to weigh in on all this whiining about the little storm you got.  Apparently people 100 miles east of you are a little tougher than you guys on the other side of the lake.  You know what that "storm" was called here???  Just another weekend......

Ken,

20" is just another day in Park City.  In Chicago, it's a major event.  Things probably won't be fully back to normal until Monday...

After just having returned from the chiropractor after unsuccessfully attempting to dig my stupid car out of the snow, I second Paul's sentiment. . . gimme those 6 numbers Mr. Mega Millions and I promise you won't see my sorry ass in Chicago another winter (except to fly in for dinner with the GCA homies.

storms like this make me remind myself "In 6.5 years you will have only 1 kid left in college"......which should free up some capital for more winter escapes...

In all seriousness guys, we had a snowstorm in South Bend last month that dropped 22" in 24 hours and a total of 38" by the time it was done.  The dig out was a pain but such is life in the north.  The storm these past few days that hit you and us dropped maybe 12"-16" total here but the winds made this storm more damaging and disruptive to any I've seen in a long time.  I feel for all those people stranded in their cars just trying to figure out how to get home.....

I guess this will delay my introduction to the Reverse Jans even longer.....

I'm on a plane to Park City tomorrow for three days at Deer Valley.  We're supposed to get snow, but I'm hoping we don't get 20 inches.

As a former Angeleno, this was the first time I'd ever had to shovel.  Despite there being a lot of renters in my neighborhood (myself included) everyone really did a good job clearing the sidewalks.  It was actually kind of fun.  Then again, I just had some steps and a sidewalk to shovel, not a driveway.

Ah, the Reverse Jans.....this Groundhog Day blizzard is proof positive that wishing for the Jans to appear -- seemingly out of the mist, Brigadoon-like -- makes it less likely to do so.

There's always next year...

reminds me of the time i had a meeting in Indiana near the lake....we had no snow in the Chicago area, no so just across the state line...then all of a sudden, it went from no snow on the ground to 2 feet of snow within a mile

To all:

Just a quick reminder that our Chicago GCA dinner is just around the corner. Please let me know if anyone else would like to attend or if your plans have changed.

The Erie Cafe is wine friendly, so if you'd like to bring a bottle, they will open it for a small corkage fee.

Dan Moore has put together a nice presentation that I'm sure will be interesting for our group.

Look forward to seeing you all...barring another Chicago snowstorm!!
