Steve - the original course was built by Charles Banks with the original clubhouse by the great Cliff Wendehack  - about the time of the great depresision when work ran dry in America
If a player insists on playing his maximum power on his tee-shot, it is not the architect's intention to allow him an overly wide target to hit to but rather should be allowed this privilege of maximum power except under conditions of exceptional skill.

I was recently there and the clubhouse was incredible and breath taking. There is lots of land for housing, maybe not as prime time as C.C. land but lots of other viable alternatives. I was supose to start consulting there last month but this has been put on hold for the obvious reasons. Nobody thought he would go this far but everybody is plenty worried now. He won´t stop there either, look for the next major war intiminated by his doings combining with the american economy dependency on war! He will start it and Russia will back him for sweet oil deals. God help us all!

Randy- Please explain.  I thought that since we're all socialists now (Newsweek, 2009) as well as Keynesians (Krugman, Binder, Obama, et. al.), that we had solved the business cycle and achieved social justice.  Please don't ruin my holiday cheer and suggest we might resort once again to unseemly, aggressive behavior.  I mean, with Stimulus, Trillion dollar deficits as far as my tired eyes can see, and craddle-to-the-grave entitlements, what can possibly go wrong?  You just need to come back home, fix The Cliffs, and help me build my dacha overlooking the lake.  ;)

Lou,

You forgot "earmarks." ;D

Has NGLA been condemned for public housing? If so, that will really bother many here at gca.

Lou...of course Social Security and Medicare are "entitlements"....after all am I not entitled to the insurance I have been paying for all my working life?  I know you do not like the "stimulus". but it but a drop in the deficit bucket when compared to Bush tax cuts and two meaningless wars.

By the way, when will American corporations start investing some of the two trillion dollars they sit on in some jobs for Americans?  All this overseas investing in manufacturing does little to shrink our deficit.

Steve- please keep it down.  How do you think I'm going to fund my dacha?

Regarding NGLA, if I had TEPaul's or Pat Mucci's pedigree, I might have a real burr up my a-- vis-a-vis socialism and what happened to Ross' outstanding CCoH.  As one of the Pedro Pan kids, I think I have sufficient cause for my revulsion to all things animated by envy and greed, which, I am sure, we define very differently.

Failure to steal more money from taxpayers does not cause Deficits, you need to look to the spending side of the equation and both sides are guilty there.
With 1/4 of all profits going to the Treasury, the Gov should be happy they Aren't expensing it. Unfortunately businesses won't hire to produce more Widgets if there is no incremental increase in demand. Especially since they are making money at their current levels of output and staffing.  We won't see a betterment in employment until the housing market corrects. Banks seem to be able to carry the foreclosed inventory due to very low Interest rates. Look for any private sector gains to be offset by public sector layoffs as local government struggle with Balanced Budget laws
Coasting is a downhill process

Lou,
Its not real difficult, take away war and the economy collaspes, the americans can no longer afford to fund wars and play world police and they can`t afford to not fund. Catch 22, so the less of the two evils, is to keep making the hole deeper and which ever party is currently under power can blame it on the other party. We have to change the owners to fix the Cliffs and fill in lots of those forced carries ect, so not very realistic. So I have a better idea, you come here and find out why I have set up pernament camp down here and we can both live happily ever after and in the future bash american politics together. Its so hard to see out of the forrest when your in the middle of it! Not sure what a dacha is but I like the sound of it, so if you need help, put me down!

Lou you must have hated the bad old days of Ronald Reagan when tax rates were much higher than today and deficits were smaller.  One thing you are missing is Social Security does not add a single penny to the deficit and should be left alone for now.  Though I would be happy if the cap on the SS tax was raised to say...$250,000. But hey, I'm all for cutting spending! How about we close every military base we have in a foreign country, stop spending money on those two useless wars in the middle east, and begin investing that money here at home building better schools, alternative energy, fixing hghways and bridges....that $800 billion a year on the military would go along ways!

I work with a guy who is always complaining about taxes and jawing how the government is stealing it from him.....so I asked him if he didnt give the money to the government would he build his own roads or maybe provide his own police protection, or job training program with the money he saved?

I just heard on the TV that American corporations created 1.4 million jobs last year....overseas.

Craig,
You left out health care, Chile goes head to head with the US fighting it out for the worst health care plans in the world, ie most expensive and 100 little small print ways around of not covering what should be covered. We better get off politics and get back down to Venezuela to Caracas Country Club or big brother may make us self destruct.

Randy, I live in a region of the USA where the government helped itself to land owned by othrs. It divided it up and gave it to its friends in the extractive industries, the timber industries, and the railroads...Sometimes those industries were one and the same.

So what Chavez is doing is a drop in the bucket...and in some cases he is taking from the multi nationals that never owned the land, minerals, and resources in the first place.

Craig,

Like Randy, I have been to Caracas and for you to say that what Chavez is doing in that country "is a drop in the bucket" shows you need to get out a little more:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101229/ap_on_re_la_am_ca/lt_venezuela_chavez

One of the most controversial laws extends broadcast-type regulations to the Internet — barring messages that "disrespect public authorities," "incite or promote hatred" or crimes, or that could create "anxiety in the citizenry or alter public order."

Critics say such broadly worded measures will give the government a free hand to target any messages deemed offensive, and could lead Venezuelans to be less open about their criticisms of the government online.

"The president is only interested in maintaining power, but he doesn't take his responsibilities seriously," said Julio Borges, a newly elected opposition lawmaker. Borges told reporters that the opposition will propose a law aimed at getting guns off the streets because the government has failed to address gun violence.

Venezuela has one of Latin America's highest murder rates. The human rights group Provea says there were 13,985 homicides reported in the country of 28 million people in 2009.

Your comment reminds me of a great line I read in the only PJ O' Rourke book that I thought was actually funny Holidays in Hell.  O'Rourke went to Nicaragua and focused some of his attention on the shut down of various media outlets critical of the regime.  When questioned about this, the information minister explained (paraphrase) :

"We do honor freedom of speech but they accused us of preventing it. This was a lie so we had to shut them down."

Pamela Geller is a major muslim hater and Islamaphope....she is crazy!  And your interpertation of net neutrality is ass backwards!  The idea is to keep the internet as it is now...neautral....open...unfiltered, not controled by corporate interests....this "wonderful invention" was developed by the government....corporations want to control content....determine who can have access, at what price and at what speed.  The current neutrality does not control the who, the what, the price, the speed.

Do you agree with her that Obama is a Muslim? Do you agree with her that Obama went to Pakistan for drugs and jihad training?  Do you believe with her that Obama had a "crack whore" back in the 80's?  Do you belive with her that Malcolm X is Obama's father?  Do you believe with her that all Muslims are terrorist? Do you believe with her that Muslims are taking over America?

For the two months I have been reading the site I have not seen those claims you or others attributed to her in your above quote. With regard for President Obama I do not believe any of the statements you made above. With regard for Muslims, I do believe those practicing Islam would like to take over America and I do believe they want the destruction of Jews and Israel.

So the one billion Muslims in the world all have exactly the same goals in life? To destroy Israel and take over America?

Have you ever met a single Muslim?
