Epcot vs a CCFAD
« on: December 25, 2010, 06:59:18 PM »
I am sitting on a bench in China getting ah so drunk fro tequila shots I bought in Mexico. The only thing keeping this fro being a stage of hell is that my kids are now old enough to drink with me. Epcot is the ultimate CCFAD.

Why does Epcot work while CCFAD's fail?  It sure as he'll ain't because Epcot is cheaper.

You get a shot of Patron and a DosXX for $20.72 which is cheap by Aus standards. My daughter lives in Sydney and can't get enough of our cheap American Liquor prices.

This reminds me of Paul Giamatti "drinking and dialing" in Sideways.  Always dangerous.  And entertaining.

Merry Christmas Barney!

We do anything for our children, JK -- even stupidly expensive things we're not sure are to anyone's long term benefit.  I know there is a movement afoot for grown men to start gifting their 'inner child' with extravagant gifts ....but until that movement takes hold CCFAD will continue to suffer.

Best

off topic

and John, how you disappoint. Your fans assumed you might return with insightful wit, practical criticism and your highly-valued curmudgeonly persona - but you'd rather post half-cut from disney. Just great.

sad,
FBD.

I dispute that a country club for a day fails.  For a guy who plays muni courses, a CCFAD is a treat.  I've long suspected a raging river of snobbery among many on this forum; perhaps those of you who belong to fabulous private clubs see a CCFAD as a failure, but those of us who grew up and continue to play munis will most directly tell you to inhale it.

Now, having said that, membership is a two-edged sword.  To say that I haven't benefitted from the knowledge and insight of those who belong to those great private clubs would be a lie.  As we approach the ringing out of an old year and the ringing in of a new, let us strive to be a bit more tolerant of that which is not us.  And for you snobs, please keep learning this muni striker about your fine, old blue-blood courses.  I live vicariously through you.
Coming in 2024

~Soaring Eagles

I don't think it's the golf that disappoints as much at CCFADs as the attendants, the amenities, etc that CCFAD owners use to justify overpricing their product.  That seems to me to be a doomed product in the current environment.

Ron,

In all honesty, when driving my daughters car fro Ithaca to Indiana I found no better golf before Cleveland than Sodous Point. You need to get with the program partner and do some field work. Buffalo was a fine place to sleep, thank you very much. I was did a comprehensive search of your website before my trip and spent my waking hours at an Indian casino near the falls.  As the great Drew Cary once said  Cleveland does Rock.

And all these years I thought it was Ian Hunter who sang Cleveland Rocks.  Its a small world for middling comics.

I am sitting on a bench in China, wishing I had a bottle of Tequila, knowing full well I will not get drunk today.  Epcot is a nice place but much more expensive than where I am at the moment.  I love Epcot as it is a great place for drinking children.
