I just received an email from the YAHOO engine that Fantasy Golf 2011 is open for business:

I forget who it was that organized our league last year, but I had a great time and would love to reprise the season (with me winning, of course!)

For those who didn't play, it was nice to talk a little smack as we navigated the unpredictable waters of 2010.  If we really wanted to go out there, we could also do a European Tour fantasy league...http://www.europeantour.com/fantasyrace2011/index.html

It looks like the Euro version, ironically, is a solo effort; not team based.

We have double figures (10) signed up for GCA golf fantasy.

For those who have played other fantasy sports, understand these important differences:

--there is no draft;
--you can play any player you want, any week he is registered for the tournament, up to 10 times per year;
--you pick eight players per week (2 A, 4 B and 2 C) and play four (1 A, 2 B and 1 C) each day.  The goal is to get as many of your guys as possible to the weekend, nothing more.  The points will then take care of themselves.


What this does is...

--allow any number of us to play the same guy(s) during a given round or week;
--substitute a player in or out when weather conditions are favorable or not, or for other circumstantial reasons.


Give it a shot.

No - just thought it was funny how much of an influence this pair has had on the Western New York golf scene. I wouldn't have thought of them for a team name unless you had mentioned it.  Glad to see them both honored.

I need to ask some of the research experts on this forum how I may find the archives of Harries & Tryon, so I can verify my theory of how they split the work on the Byrncliff greens.  I think Tryon was the more creative of the pair (but he still needs to repent for that back 9 Par 5 at Holiday Valley).
