I think you guys have it all wrong on power logos.

I'd much rather play with the guy that show up with a pine valley hat, CPC shirt, and NGLA wind top than the guy that walks up to the tee with a Wild Horse hat, Lawsonia Links shirt, Rustic Canyon belt buckle, and Longshadow embroidered leather MacKenzie bag.

The second guy just screams, "I know more about golf course architecture than you."

Tim,

Is that because you feel inferior to number 2 in some way and would kill you to play with somebody that might have more architectural knowledge?  :)

Perhaps, but we'd first have to make the leap of faith that I somehow believe buying a belt buckle reflects architectural knowledge.

JC,

Thanks for sharing the other side of the great bagtag debate! So long as thery are not placed in an area that annoys the caddie, or there are so many as to seem tacky...why not? They are a nice conversation starter than can lead to some great stories. I certainly proudly display the caddie scholarship organizations I support and use every chance I get when someone asks to mention the wonderful lifechanging merits of those programs.

John,

Great observation on the durability of the Slaz apparel! I know they're not an expensive ball, but I always liked the Slaz pills as well. They were near unfindable for a while, but the company seems to have ramped up their marketing and green grass efforts to get their products out there more.
"I said in a talk at the Dunhill Tournament in St. Andrews a few years back that I thought any of the caddies I'd had that week would probably make a good golf course architect. We all want to ask golfers of all abilities to get more out of their games -caddies do that for a living." T.Doak

You make the bet, you deal with the consequences.  As long as the article of clothing doesn't have #13 on the back of it I will be ok.

Does my Cobbs Creek hat qualify as a "power logo?"

My all time Power logo experience was at the club inVitational.  Logo was from one of the two eastern Power clubs debated arguably eVery month at this site.

The visitor's bag was outside the diner.  I pass by, look, stop, and briefly stare.

The bag had a logo, each of the three headcovers and putter cover had a logo. The towel had a logo. When he came out, his hat and shirt had a logo.  I think I avoided looking at his belt but cannot remember.

I am not joking.  He was making a statement, and I think I got it.

Was going to be a real joker,  ask if he was a member,  and chickened out because I knew he was very proud.

I made the rounds this Fall with my new logoed hat. So far, I have not gotten much love on the NYC subway system.  :'( Next week I take it on the road in South Carolina and Florida. Let's see how it works!  ;)

I will plead guilty to wearing some power logo shirts, I think I wore a couple at the Dixie Cup.  However the main reason I end up taking those shirts on a trip is that I don't want to ruin them so I don't wear them much and they are therefore the best conditioned shirts I own.  I have several bag tags on my golf bag, but I have never bought one.  If I play at a course and they put a bag tag on my bag I leave it there, as a result I have a wide variety of bag tags on my golf bag.  The paper ones they tie onto your bag at the muni's tend not to last very long.

I like it when guys wear lots of logos and have lots of bag tags.  It gives me an opportunity to discuss the courses they've played and hear about their experiences and share mine.  I'm happy for people when they play great courses and I love to hear their stories and sometimes the recognition of a bag tag or a logo will start that conversation.

What great memories we all have when we play golf and play golf at great places.  It is great to have these items that will take us back to that round or that course, even for a second.  I keep my bag in my trunk and everyday when I put my work bag in the trunk I see my Merion bag tag and I smile, thinking about the great round and the great people I shared that day with.  Few things are better than seeing some other person's bag tag and hearing their stories as well.

Bob C - that "Yes. Gotta run" off Mike Y's "Is that why we never talk" was perfect!

I just want to be a good enough golfer one day not to look like a jag-off when I wear my Sam Snead-like straw fedora out on the course. I shouldn't care what people think (and damn, I think I look snappy in that hat) -- but I can't help it.

I'm a slave to fashion and a slave to public-golfer opinion at the same time.

Power Logo Etiquette.

What is protocal on Power Logo Etiqutte when playing as a guest in a Member/Guest? Do you wear the logo of the club you belong to (if any), do you wear the logo of the club where you are playing or do you just try to dress nicely and not draw attention to yourself?

One thing for sure: matching outfits at Member/Guest are as taboo as matching Speedos, though I damn near bought matching Ian Poulter outfits a couple of years ago as a joike but the joke, ultimately, would have been on me.......
Played in a member guest a few years ago where a team in our flight pulled a hybrid of the matching outfits trick. One guy had a white shirt with club logo and navy shorts. His partner had a navy shirt(same logo) and white shorts(not khaki). Both wore a matching navy and white hat with same same logo as shirts. The thing that was most startling or appalling if you prefer is that they were totally not kidding around. My partner and I got into a fit of laughing in the middle of the round about the outfits that was uncontrollable. I guess you had to be there but it was the highlight of the tournament.

As general counsel to the Fa' Tass holding company and its several operating subsidiaries, I protest the unauthorized use of the Fa' Tass trademark on this thread and demand that people cease and desist using it. Otherwise Mike Young will come to your house and break your neck. You want power logos? Mike will show you power logos.

BTW Mike, you still carrying that leather bag (McKinney? MacKenzie? MacMuffin?) that looks like a big condom the morning after?

4) He has at least a dozen bag tags bouncing around on his bag.

...including the leather business card holder bag tag from Kapalua. ;)

I've been stuffing my business cards down the side of one of my pouches. They get wet when it rains. A leather business card holder with a power logo will remedy that! Excellent...

SWAG knows all when it comes to logos.  I am thinking that in the near future he may develop a right and left coast set of logos - he certainly has California sorted.

How about the ultimate "cover all bases" power logo.  I still have two shirts with the St. louis C.C. logo, and with the following inscription beneath:
