A new course at Rowallan Castle in Ayrshire has made the golf.com list of the Top 10 New International Courses for 2010:

It appears to be a parkland layout. Has anyone seen or played it? Any comments?

I toured it with Ross McMurray from EGD while it was being built (in Open week 2007). Nice course in the making and I quite liked it, but it won't be on the tourist itinerary for many visitors to Ayrshire, I shouldn't think. Must go back for a detailed look now it's been open a while.

The new course at Kilmaurs has received very mixed reviews in the last few months on the Top100 website:

http://www.top100golfcourses.co.uk/htmlsite/productdetails.asp?id=2212

It certainly had one or two rough edges when I visited in August but I wasn't prepared for some of the
subsequent scathing remarks from golfers who have played there since.

I must say I'm surprised to see it quoted in a Top 10 International chart - then again, why should I find it
strange when - as some suspect - these listings are susceptible to, ahem, "commercial influences"...
