For what it's worth, my top golf "moment" of the year
« on: December 03, 2010, 12:19:02 PM »
It's the simple things sometimes..............
First place: Camden CC. Any course that's Ross and you cross working train tracks at least twice ranks up there in my book.

Second place: My usual rule is, the smaller the sign , the better the golf club.
Dormie takes it a step further with the temporary wire sign. Like a "yard sale" sign.

Third place: Dawn at The Dixie Cup at Carolina GC.

"Dawn at Carolina Golf Club at the Dixie Cup......."

As an old boss of mine once asked me when I called from the West Coast at 5 a.m. PST:  "Are you just coming in?"   ;D

A very cool thing about the RR tracks at Camden - if you're ON the tracks, you're OB.  If you get ACROSS the tracks, you're not!

I am really really new here.  What is the Dixie Cup and how can I get involved next year?  Thanks in advance.

I've been told it's in Chattanooga next year, but see previous thread.
This year was my first.

Did they put that sign up just for the day when a certain GCA member called up and asked if it was public?
"Let's slow the damned greens down a bit, not take the character out of them." Tom Doak
"Take their focus off the grass and put it squarely on interesting golf." Don Mahaffey
