There was a deep face version of the Macgregor Persimmon Driver named after the long-drive champion at the time George Bayer. It was an awesome club for it's time.
I also had good luck with a couple Hogan "speed-slot" drivers. One took me through 3 years of junior pennants, Eric Apperly and pennant golf until it cracked all the way from the face insert to the sole plate. They were freely available in Australia at the time because Hogan had a dedicated sales office in Sydney from the 60s through the end of the 70s.
