Aerial of the Day #31 - 25 Feb 2002
« on: February 25, 2002, 05:45:52 AM »
Let's go across the pond again.  A reminder that this will only be in England or Wales.  This one is more blurry than the Swinley Forest aerial earlier (zooming in made it worse), so it's not as good:

Is that someone's driver laying by 2 tee in the lower left of the picture?

Does this qualify as a slam dunk?

Good one, Geoffrey!  Actually, one could get woozy looking at a picture without the sharper edges of the U.S. courses we've been looking at.

I seem to discern the distant image a giant Rabbit wandering around 17 in search of a pellet. A white pellet, not a white Rabbit, if we may paraphrase the Airplane.

Must have had some VERY influential members to hold back the pressure to develop.

I think if developers dared ruin the course with housing, they'd be screwed royally.

Just in case no one has it yet, the course is Open for play and must be good because they gave it two names, so to speak.

Blowing it for Shivas, yes, this is Royal Lytham & St. Annes (sometimes shortened as Lytham), last year's Open site of David Duval's first major.

Par 3 #1 is far left, site of Ian Woosnam's extra 3-wood.

The sea is not far, due south.

The answer lies within this ancient proverb:

"Remember our young american layman.  Let yesterday's triumph harken another major & Secure that America's new names emerge succesful."
