Re: How many US Open courses should California hav

Gary,
I have no problem if you are against the occasional US Open being held on a golf course that tests the skill and nerves of short-iron play as long as the same standard applies in the other direction!

Why cannot the venues of our national championship be selected deliberately to highlight a different aspect of the game?

The PGA is invariably a slog. Augusta National is a cadaver that has been renovated so often it is little more than golf's Frankenstein - just the stage in a theatre where the props change but the play remains the same.

Only the British provides variety and drama - that is why it is my favorite of the year. The USGA was on the right track at Pinehurst but have lost their way again.

It is a shame when cousins marry.
