Joe Logan's Merion article in Superintendent News
« on: February 28, 2002, 05:58:51 PM »
I hope everyone who tunes into this site also has signed up for Superintendent News?

It's the best thing going in this country and this new issue is no exception with a balanced article by Joe Logan detailing the perceived pros and cons of the Merion bunker restoration work.

The rationale of giving Fazio marching orders to return the bunkers to their 1930 appearance is carefully chronicled as well as noting specific criticism from "a web site known for cherishing traditional courses, www.golfclubatlas.com."

Cheers,

Ran -

I did not know it covered more than trade/turf issues.

Any info on how you can subscribe?  Brad, are you out there?

Thanks.  Bob

I'd like to second Ran's opinion that all who frequent this site should be subscribers to Golfweek's Superintendent News (GSN).

The magazine does cover more than turf and trade issues. There's really good architecture stuff in the magazine on a regular basis, written by the likes of Brad Klein, Anthony Pioppi, and guests.

GSN's one of the better golf related mags. available today, for sure.

I'll third Jeff's second of the opinion that Supt. News is worth a regular view.

In a thread some time ago about magazines to subscribe to I recommended Supt. News.  The magazine regularly publishes lengthly pieces on important issues of all kinds.  These are not short attention getters but educational articles by experts.  As an exaample I give you an entire issue devoted to environmental issues as related to golf courses.  We need only look at the Friar's Head thread of the last few days to see that many of us would learn something from Supt. News

Keep up the good work Brad Klein , Tony Pioppi et. al. !!

Brad Klein being the founding editor, you knew Superintendent News would contain issues of architecture as well.

For those who frequent this site, SN is a must!!!!!

I just had a look at the link and it loooks like this is a free subscription. That can't be correct. Surely there is a cost. Anybody help? Or do you have to subscribe to Golfweek?

Subscriptions to SUPERINTENDENT NEWS cost $69.95 per year (USA). It's published bi-weekly except monthly in December and January. Call the Subcription Dept. at 800-830-5182.  The Editor is our very own Dr. Bradley Klein!
