Lido Contest
« on: March 04, 2002, 08:45:19 PM »
Now I know I asked this question before, but the infomation that I received has been lost.  I am inquiring about any information regarding the contest this year, or did I miss it.

Sean:

I think he is referring to the current Lido contest, run by I don't know who.  It is staged every year, similar to that of Golf Digest's recent contests, but those are all the details I have at my disposal.

DerekL,
The address used to be:
Chair, Alister MacKenzie Lido Prize Competition,
Green Hills Country Club, End of Lundeman Lane, Green Hills, CA 94030
I don't know if it still is.

I had no idea this still went on

how come this is not more widely advertised here with perhaps sketches of the winners each year on the site or something ?

one of the winners from this past year, a grade school student, had his design featured in Links magazine not too long ago.  It was a par four that held vague similarities to the eighth at pebble beach.

Hi All!

The Alister MacKenzie "Lido" Prize in Golf Architecture is an annual competition run by the Alister MacKenzie Society, with a cash prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  If interested, you should write for an entry form and rules of the competition.  Note: the deadline for completed entries is August 15, 2002.

The correct address for the competition is:
Chair, Alister MacKenzie Lido Competition in Golf Architecture
Green Hills Country Club
End of Ludeman Lane
Millbrae, CA 94030

I saw the drawing done by the grade school student recently in Links Magazine.  It does look similar to that of #8 at Pebble Beach, however, anybody who has "Golf Architecture in America" (Geo. C. Thomas Jr., my fave), look on page 138.
