I was there last year for the Crump Cup and they had parking across the street from the amusement park and had two school buses doing runs.

Amusement park is on Berlin Rd (Pa 534). Closest major highway is US30 (White Horse Pike) and you need to go south on Pa686 from US 30, and L on Berlin Rd for a couple of blocks, parking on left.

Let me know if Chris Maletis made the senior match play tree.

Headed there in a few minutes with my 12 yr old son.  Rain had started at about 2am, and it stopped at about 10:30.

Went to the Crump finals and the course looked great. Despite a steady rain this morning it remained firm and pretty fast.  According to the super and someof the caddies it was realy fun the friday and saturday.

Winners included Mike McCoy in the main event winning on the 17th hole.  He played well , making a lot of pars on a very difficult golf course. Its really quite long from the new tees as McCoy had o er 200 to both 13 and 16 ....

Ageless Vinny Giles won the  senior division  making a clutch 13 footer for par on the 17th after a wayward drive forced a pitch out, for par......Parred 18 to win one up!

Gordon Brewer wins the super senior  to add to his long list of achievements,,,,,man he is one tough competitior and a terror at match play   ,,,more to come  go Eagles

Both Mike McCoy and Scott Rowe were great in the final match, with McCoy making a couple of good up & downs (specifically on #12 from the pine straw left of the left greenside bunker) and Rowe missing putts to win holes that would have changed the complexion to the match.  With the putter a little cold, Rowe did a great job of hanging around.

The fairways were quite firm, with a great hollow "thud" when tee balls landed.  I agree, the greens seemed to have shed the overnight rain beautifully.

And compliments to both McCoy and Rowe for their pleasant demeanor on the course and polite interaction with a few kids ages 9-12 that were following the match.

Patrick M  so sorry I don't know who Gordon beat at the super senior level

Vinny  Giles beat Jeff Burda in the seniors   ...Burda really has great action and played well  he beat Pat Tallent in the am semi   Vinny won against Jim Holtgrieve

Mike McCoy beat  Scott Rowe   2 and 1 in the finals ...Rowe very long , struggled with his putting on the last nine missed short ones on 11,12  15  and missed a birdie to stay alive from about about 15 feet on 17 after McCoy parred  ....funny that it was almost exactly where Giles had holed a great par save an hour earlier to maintain his lead

Archie,

Vinny and Gordon are to be congratulated.

How much impact do you think that local knowledge has in match play ?

One hole, two holes, three holes ?

How about in medal play, how many strokes ?

 8) ::) 8)

I've often postulated that Pine Valley is one of the biggest home court advantages in golf ..  maybe two to three shots stroke play and at least 2 up in match ....the greens are just so hard to read for a novice and it takes you a while to get over the fear of clunking one on #'s 5 and 8.....always remember that great amateur from Chicago Joel Hirsch making an 11 on eight from 100 yards out ...along with sixteen pars in a qualifier.....

You really get comfortable with the angles onceyou've played there a lot....as we have seen over the years the local Philly guys have really been tough here...they just know it better...the new back tees probably mitigate the home court edge a little, as you just can't fake it on four ... thirteen ...and sixteen

Match play is reallly fun here, three days of stroke play would severely limit the potential winners to a select few IMHO

Mark and I arrived yesterday just before the gates opened and it had been raining in the area all morning.  As we walked the course in reverse it is neat to come upon some of the matches that went off earlier and the players are sort of surprised to see us!  They'll chat you up, etc.  As we came up to the 15th green we ran into Philly's own Chris Lange, playing his match.  He said the place was so firm and fast before the rain in the morning.  But I was still amazed with all that rain how well the course did play.  I'm guessing the greens might have lost a pace or two, but they were still quite quick.

The pin on ten was front right.  Any way once a year they could shave down that bank to the DA just for entertainment purposes for those that hit it to the back right part of the green?!

You could fly it to the hole with a bit of spin and still end up down in the pit!  I dont know if you even need to fly it long!
