Canadian Women's Open ~ St. Charles CC (Mackenzie & Ross)
« on: August 25, 2010, 01:33:58 PM »
A reminder to the Canadian contingent that the Canadian Women's Open is being held at St. Charles CC in Winnipeg, MB., and will be televised on the CBC Thursday through Sunday.

St. Charles is the only club in the world to feature design world by both Dr. Alister Mackenzie & Donald Ross, each contributing 9 holes at the facility. The Mackenzie nine will be played first, followed by the Ross nine.  A lot of renovation work has been completed over the years, but some good classic architecture still exists, some of which restored by Mike DeVries.

Apparently YouKnow Who likes this combination of MacKenzie and Ross.

I think it is safe to say now that UKnow Who absolutely loves this course.

Does anyone know if this course has ever  been done up in a pictorial report on this website?

Is poster Buzminksi from Winnipeg?

It appeared from watching this tournament, that the greens on the Ross nine were very difficult for the players to read and numerous short putts were missed as a result.
Thompson golf holes were created to look as if they had always been there and were always meant to be there.

Garland,

I don't think there are any regular posters besides myself who live in Winnipeg. I don't remember a pictorial of St. Charles on GCA, I'll see if I can dig up some pictures from my computer. If not, the next time I play there I'll bring my camera along.
