A shot in the dark - is this Dr Mac's original Moor Allerton Course built in 1923?

The pic of the 4th Hole does look a bit like Cavendish's 4th

Yes the photos do look like some of the old Cavendish ones, but you need to travel South and a long way East.  Braid is the architect of record. 

It's far from famous but is well regarded...so I'm still hoping someone might recognize it.

Ipswich or as locally known: Purdis Heath.  The 1930s book that these photos come from, has Braid as the designer but with "Hawtree and Taylor" as the construction team, which is an interesting combination.

I bet it's still a fine course, would love to see a modern photo tour.

Its just down the road from the village I live in about 15-20 miles. Might try and get over there and take a few photos. It was on my short list but at the wrong end. So close yet so far.

Based on the little diagrams on the website, it seems that they may have filled in some bunkers over time.  This diagram of the 15th sure seems to have less than Paul's photo.

Paul - it is still a very nice course - I paid them a visit about three years ago to look at some of the heather regeneration work they were doing. Bunkers much less striking now, as you'd expect. A grand piece of property.

I was looking up info on Ipswich after I saw the clue - then scrolled and down and saw someone beat me to it!! It has some great reviews on other sites and looks well worth playing

However original it may be it is a lovely course to play. They have an additional 9-hole course which they operate as a pay-and-play facility. How good is that?
