My New Favorite Rule In Golf
« on: August 14, 2010, 04:38:52 PM »
Today I got to build (rebuild) my first green ever. After we staked out the green, a 1920 Donald Ross original, I was sitting in my excavator ready to core it out, and my boss tells me:

"You owe me one 6-pack for every stake you break"

... best rule in golf course building ever!

very cool!!

Hola, Jaeger.

Which course and green?  The "photo info" off the right-click didn't help much.

From what we see in the photo, is it getting built up any from there, or is it a ground level green, or is it an illusion because we don't see it from the front? Are there fill levels marked on the stakes?

Real quickly... its #7 on the #2 nine at Montclair GC, NJ. I would call it a mild push-up green, because its mostly at ground level aka extra steep at Montclair! The green isn't getting built up anywhere, it is being lowered, mostly in the back portion. The picture is from the back left corner of the green, I am standing on top of a truck. I haven't put ribbons on the stakes yet in the photo either... Ill have more pics on monday, I'm off to play golf in the Peconic Bay tomorrow!
