Anthony,Don't you think that par is largely dependent upon the yardage of the hole ?Do you know many 500 yard holes that play as par 4's for the membership ?

Of course if your desire is par you are going to have a different strategy.You are going for that green in two.If it is a par 5 and you want that par you flew over the ocean for,you are going to play short and pitch on.Par does change the hole architecturally.Anthony,I disagree.The hole is "static", architecturally, irrespective of par.If your objective is to shoot the lowest score you can, why would par change your strategy ?I can see your strategy being changed in match play after your opponent has fired one or two out of bounds, but, for medal play, I don't see that par has much influence on your strategy.
