Architects - have you ever been bit by your own design?

Just wondering - have you ever been bit by one of your diabolical hazards or holes?    I once heard a story about an architect that was playing with some fiends - gets to a hole with a large bunker that a long hitter would like to carry off the tee.  It'd find a speed slot and would give the golfer a chance to get home in two (it was a par 5).

He tells his friends to just hit it right over the bunker and proceeds to demonstrate.  Obviously, the shot finds the bunker and a laugh is had by all.

Don't know if it's true, but it's a nice story.

I find it funnier getting into trouble on a hole when you are playing with the designer.  The awkward conversations, or lack of, are intriguing.

That was the 4th hole at Baltusrol Lower during media day prior to the U.S. Open after RTJ had renovated the course for it...

not my design obviously but did get hit about a month back when playing NSW gc....literally....

3rd hole...trademark mackenzie blind tee shot....me and my mate playing the course for the 1st time where strolling down the middle of the fairway which doglegs left...soaking it all in....then WHACK! a local cut the corner big time with an impressive drive and hit me on the fly....unfortunetly for him it ricoshayed off my kidney and into the rough. was a good laugh after i collected myself.

learnt the hard way the best way to play the hole.
