I am an avid hiker, and enjoy the morning or afternoon hike with my dog exploring nature’s beauty. Sometimes I prefer to go on a hike for a couple of hours than playing golf, (and I am obsessed with golfing). I have been very fortunate that the two clubs I have worked at recently have had an abundance of hiking trails surrounding the golf course. IMO, looking down on a golf course or walking beside it offers many views that you do not see while playing, shows more subtle undulations and angles.
So my question is what are some good golf courses that have hiking trails to provide awesome views of the course and of nature?
I will start with a couple
-Stone Eagle (there are probably 10 hiking trails that go around the course, giving unbelievable views)
-Tumble Creek (A hike leads up to a fire watch point that looks down on the whole back nine and a view of Lake Cle Elum)
-The Quarry at La Quinta (A trail goes right beside the 4 holes that go up the canyon)
-The Preserve (A ton of trails that go all around the huge property of the Preserve)
Also another question for the architects, when routing in a densely forested area how do you see all the undulations to build golf holes when it is so thick with trees. I know you have a topo map, but I am sure you still walk through the forest visualizing golf holes.
