Should concept of par be changed on certain short par 3s?
« on: August 02, 2010, 03:46:03 PM »
Thinking of the tour changes to par 4 from member par 5s on a lot of courses in the 490-525 yard range, what about lowering some par 3s to par 2s on certain holes under 150 yards or holes where the vast majority of pros hit 9iron or less?

No actual golf rounds were ruined or delayed, nor golf rules broken, in the taking of any photographs that may be displayed by the above forum user.

I think that's more because more pros canhit the green in regulation in 2 shots and walk off with 2 putt pars.  With that logic in mind, you cant assume that pros can get on the green in zero shots.  Does this make sense or have I lost my mind?

How many par three's actually play to a less than three stroke average?

I can't get on board with this one, not neither.  The subsequent key to hitting a par four in one or a par five in two is that a pro has a putter in her/his hands for the eagle shot.  That cannot be the case on a par three hole.
