Southern Dunes Maricopa AZ to be purchased

A blurb in this week's (May 21) GolfWeek indicates that the Ak-Chin Indian Community is purchasing the Southern Dunes Golf Club.  I assume it will be positioned as a resort style partner with their nearby gaming facilities (Harrah's Casino).

How far is Ak-Chin from Southern Dunes? 

Also - any word on the plans for Golf Club Scottsdale?  Rumor is that it is being sold with plans for a hotel/timeshare/interval ownership approach.

Those rumors about TGC Scottsdale wouldn't surprise me given the nature of the ownership of the club and the other properties they own AND the limited success of the club:

The casino is a few miles south of town, about 6 miles from the golf course.  For those unfamiliar with the area - Maricopa is about 35 miles south of Phoenix Sky Harbor airport.

"Friend of a friend" who works there says they plan a "wall-to-wall" overseed next winter.  Here's to hoping it doesn't get turned into an overwatered slog fest nor do they dumb it down for the resort golf crowd.

I have no news about the GC Scottsdale.

That would indeed be a shame. There are few enough courses in this area that suit the ground game at all--let's hope they don't waste one.

There was an article in June Executive Golfer on the Wind Rose Collection.  That looks like the new owner for GCS. 

If you look at how Talking Stick is run, would it surprise you that Southern Dunes would be all overseeded to cater to tourists?
