I will be in Raleigh for a few days this week and was looking for golf stores. the only one I can find on Google is Golfsmith near the airport. Any other recommendations.

This is not a sneaky way of asking for a game of golf - I will not not be bringing my clubs nor will have the time to play anywhere!

Martin, there is a Golf Galaxy in Cary. Also Dick's Sporting Goods, several locations.

Nothing locally owned or quirky to speak of -

The Golfsmith on Glenwood is supposedly the largest Golfsmith store in existence. Golf Galaxy has branches in Cary and Durham that I am aware of, neither of which are anywhere close to Golfsmith's scale.

Actually, the pro shop at Hillandale Golf Course in Durham is quite good - perennially a Top 100 pro shop.

Thanks all for the advice. I think I will be quite near the Golfsmith, and time contrasts probably make that the best choice. Not really in the market for a lot of kit, my bag is now well settled, but a little browsing is always tempting.

Thanks also for the messages offering some golf at some wonderful courses. Unfortunately I will not have any time beyond a quick cab ride to a mall with a stop at the golf store. Otherwise will be in boring meetings, thankfully in A/C'd rooms!
