I've never met him but he sure says a lot of things with which I agree.

No Sir, I do not. To me the act of verbalishness is merely the act and art of communication whether or not some Socratic Mrs Grundy deems his spoken or written word right or wrong. I know precisely what Doak said and meant to say and it was of no diff pre-correction or post-correction. I know this due to my extreme knowledge of physiognomy (which I learned in the bars of NYC, BTW) and my putter!

Paul - I just realized and remembered something. In my one course in art history we briefly studied the Dadaists. And as a way of explaining that art/those artists, the crazy ex-Jesuit Frenchman who was our professor stood on a chair and shouted out, "I am a Dadaist! I am an Iconoclast! Your post is a feeble attempt to obfuscate. 

At least you finally recognized that two, independent, statements were made in my post #25.  Perhaps I should I always hold your hand and walk you through posts like I do my 6 year old daughter with chapter books.

Now, to the extent you addressed my post, which is barely if at all, let me address yours.

1)  Does Doak know more about Weiskopf greens than I do?  If so, let him show the evidence.  Do you see how ridiculous that argument is?  Sir Doak makes a generalized statement and you lap it up as gospel as if you were sitting at the feet of a prophet.  His statement is completely unprovable and that's why HE is wrong.  How many Weiskopf greens has he played?  How many Weiskopf courses has he seen?  Has he seen every modern course built in the last 20 years so as to make a legitimate comparison?  How could he POSSIBLY know that Weiskopf builds the flattest greens of any architect today?  For God sakes man, use your brain and stop displaying your obvious butt-boy-ness.   Lets say that Mr. Weiskopf himself said that he builds the flattest greens of any architect today.  How the hell could HE prove that statement.  He can't.  It would be marketing at its best.  Do you see the problems here? 

2)  You must spend your days in the barn watching cable "news" programming; taking notes on how NOT to make a coherent argument.  My point regarding the statement he made (that being the statement regarding certain death if greens like St. Andrews were built in the US) was, and is, entirely separate from my point regarding Saint Doak of Architecture being wrong.  It was, and is, entirely speculative and acknowledged by me as such when I said PERHAPS.  I have no idea why Mr. Weiskopf builds the greens he does but what he said (FROM HIS MOUTH AND BROADCAST TO MILLIONS) is at least somewhat of an indication on his architecture philosophy.

So, until you can put together the answers to my questions or put forth a quote from Weiskopf regarding green building philosophy, I suggest go to the book store and pick up a dictionary and a 4th grade workbook on reading comprehension.  Either that or READ the posts before you respond.

Yeah, I think I've heard of them---those Dadaists. I don't really trust The French anyway but weren't those Dadaists the ones who invented the dildo? I think they got the idea from studying the 2,000 plus year old pornographic art of the Egyptian pharoahs. But being the petty thinkers most French and French artists are they apparently thought those outsized Pharonic penises were artifical.

Or maybe I'm way off based there. Not only am I an expert in physiognomy, I'm also somewhat of an expert in etymology; therefore I might say those Dadaists French may've had some collective form of a gay male electra complex.

BTW, and on the subject of Weiskopf, you guys are going to love our own Pat Mucci Weiskopf story of the time he played in a pro-am with him. What Pat said to him is just another great example of the inimitable Patrick Mucci. It really wasn't so much what he said to him, it was the way he said it to him. And afterwards, the fact that Tom W wanted to become Pat's new best friend just makes it all the better!

The moniker comes from Mike DeVries and what he says is the ugliest and most amazing par he's ever seen.  One thing about my golf game is that I can hit some of the worst and best golf shots you've ever seen (often times on the same hole).

It's funny you mention Tom W and marking a ball with a quarter.  That happened at Canterbury not too far from my neck of the woods. 

Every time a quarter is used in my group, someone will always say "You mark your ball with a f@#$%^& quarter?!?!"    It's a stupid joke but it's been ongoing for years.

Yeah, that quarter thing was definitely not one of TomW's best days. To me it was a bit more interesting because I knew the guy he did it to---I used to see him at things like the Crump or the Coleman. I believe he was the USGA Senior Amateur champion at the time and was in that tournament (when paired with Weiskopf) for that reason.

There is a certain inherent arrogance with certain pros towards amateurs, even good ones, in my opinion. I've seen it too often in my career in tournaments. But thankfully there have always been plenty of others who are never that way.

On of the most memorable examples to me was in the Philadelphia Open one time. That was a single day 36 hole tournament as I recall. I was paired with three pros and one of them was actually a friend of mine and in the second round he started talking to me incessantly about my swing or whatever. So I finally told him: "Look, if you want to talk to me about my swing, let's just do it after this tournament, OK, particularly considering to this point in the Philadelphia Open I'm beating you by something like 10-15 shots!"
