I wish the article discussed the course a little more, as Prestwick is a truly special place with a tremendous golf course. That being said, it is cool that the place got a mention. During my visit, I found that Prestwick had a very friendly club atmosphere, just as the article insinuates. You felt welcome there in a way that you probably wouldn't feel welcome at any other Open Rota course. I just cannot say enough good things about Prestwick.
I also wonder if the golf course at Prestwick isn't strong enough to host another Open. I understand the crowd constraints, but if they can play an open at St. Andrews, can't they play one just about anywhere? Prestwick may still have the old-school quirk, but it is also a damn tough golf course, especially on the newer holes. 7, 9, 10, 11, and 13 are as tough a set of holes as you might care to play.
