Medinah v. Butler

I'm extremely fortunate to have gotten an out-of-the-blue invite to play these two courses in a few weeks.  I've played neither, though I've seen a few holes at Butler (about six years ago).  Anything in particular I should look out for?

It's hard to find two consecutive par 4s that are tougher than #9 and #10 at Butler.   Par both holes and you've accomplished a great feat.  If you birdie either hole, send in your entry fee for Q School.

Butler has more holes you can make an 8 on without trying than any other course in Chicago. Medinah No. 3 may be second in that respect, especially if you get cute on the par 3s over water.

I have no trouble making an 8 just about anywhere in Chicago  (indeed two of them on Tuesday. . .)

i thought Butler was much harder than Medinah..played Butler twice - and shittily both times!

I don't think it's hard to find 2 consecutive holes that are harder-try the 17th and 18th at Butler!These are longer and you have to work the ball. 9 and 10 just require 2 very long, straight shots that land softly.
