Last week I made a visit back to  southern Indiana and managed to play what I think are four courses worthy of discussion.

I'll present them in the order played, the first being Belterra, a Tom Fazio casino course located in Florence, Indiana up against the Ohio river.  It sure appears they did a pretty remarkable job of moving earth to transform flat river bottom land into a course.  Those holes farther away from the river, up by the older trees, appear to have some landforms less created, but perhaps some of my Hoosier natives can expand further!

Belterra opened in 2001 and has been ranked by some publications.

Here is the routing:

Looks a whole lot like the Glen Club in Chicago.

I like your first picture best--the aerial of the whole course.

Where else did you play? Don't keep us in suspense.

Of the times I've played there, I had more success considering the 4th to be the par 4 and the 5th to be the par 5.  That's one tough hole.  I think overall Belterra is an enjoyable course.  Some good holes, but nothing really great.

Glad you got out of the quality golf-starved Philly area and got to see some real courses.   ;D

Tsk, tsk, Alex.  You clearly did not lose your East Coast biting humor did ya'?!   ;)

At this time I'm not going to reveal the other three courses upcoming on the photo tour, but two of the three are close to Heavensville and pretty darn fun.

But perhaps they are Fendrich, Helfrich, and the muni at Tell City... or not.   ;D

Looks like a nice golf course. Thanks for the pictures.

What are your personal views on hole 5 Joe? I think the mowing lines in the left hand rough look horrible, and the green looks a little too small for the length of hole.

Pup, your thoughts on that green are pretty good.  It is just 28 yards deep, which makes this long par 4 very difficult.  It pretty much requires an aerial shot with that large bunker fronting the green and water left.

Back nine coming up now...
