Final LQ for Open
« on: June 30, 2010, 02:55:06 PM »
I had heard from a caddie that the Torrance had been "fantastic" for the FLQ rounds.  IMHO the Torrance has always had a great set of greens and for the final local qualifying the course super, Neil Ballingall, told me:

"we cut them four times each day, ironed them twice, and vibro rolled them twice. no putt deviated from where it was hit - they were awesome. we had them at 10.3 for the R&A which is a bit slower than normal but safer if the wind came up."

Anyway, the greens have four types of grass, none of which is poa.  The minute Neil spots poa he decreases any nitrogen applications and gets rid of it.   Besides his special blend Neil also overseeds with fecue on occasion.   Happy to supply his contact numbers to PB.
