Mike:

I got that magazine in the mail yesterday, and was kind of surprised by the picture.  I have had Ping irons for a long time, but NOT a ping putter as I appeared to be holding.  I don't remember exactly when the photo was taken, though, and I have played a lot of my golf with borrowed clubs over the past 2-3 years.

I really hate posing for pictures, unless I'm standing with my wife or my kids; I don't like being on that side of the camera.  Actually, that photo is better than most.

That's one of the funniest things I've read on the board.  Well played, I imagine Tom chuckled too.

Hey, you can mock my game all you went, but you should NOT mock my putting.

TD.  You should break the mold and get an equipment contract.  If Justin Timberlake and teaching pros like Leadbetter and Butch Harmon have contracts, why not an architect?

Joel,

I can see the add now.  Get Tom on one of his wavy greens draining a fifty footer.  Or up and down from the green side bunker at 4 or 7 Barnbougle

Courses could start advertising that they are a 10 on the Doak/Titleist scale...

Joel:

An equipment contract?  Jesus, until this past Christmas every club in my bag was ten years old.  And I don't think George Low is paying anybody to use his putter, if he's still alive.  [I actually met him on the practice green at Butler National during the Western, many moons ago.]

I always said that when I got to 50 I ought to try the Senior Tour, since all of those guys try architecture.  But, I don't think I've kept my game sharp enough to keep up with Freddie Couples.

Mmmm, Driving distance and putting are not an issue Tom. Need to increase your GIR and you might give them a run.

Tom,
I'd guess Joel meant something rather more in 'Associative Marketing'.

Something like:
"Got Drainage Issues? Try ALL-NEW, IMPROVED DOAK'S DRAINAGE DUCTS"
or
"When a Real Man has Dirt to Shift, DOAK DRIVES A 'DOZER."

 ;D

There's bound to be loads more...

Tom,
I have several good pictures of you and you and Brian Slawnik at the Bay of Dreams.  Some were posed and some were not posed.  I would never ever post them.  You had a Kapalua hat on.
