I figure what better way to introduce myself than share some pics. I hope you will enjoy them. I dont know too many people outside of here who would appreciate these.   I am looking forward to participating on the board. . .

Do you construct Nicklaus courses by chance?

I do work for Nicklaus. I am currently a production associate in the Fl office. I have had the opportunity to be on site at a few projects where I get to push some dirt around.  :)

I draft our Design Associates plans in CAD, create our full set of plans for construction (strategy, contour, etc), run quantities (grassing, cut-fill etc), create graphic renderings. I also get the opportunity to work on routings and grading/strategy plans with some of our DA's.

Mike,
Did Brandon's e-mail give it away....  :)

Brandon
Welcome aboard.
Who let you push the dirt around?
Does your boss know you are here?

Which projects from the pics did you work on?

Why does Pine Valley look more like Augusta?
How much did your office shrink?

What gave it away for me were that many of the course pictures were from Nicklaus courses.

That is a cool assortment of holes and courses. As one who has not played much Nicklaus living in the Northeast, I would love to see more of his stuff here. Two updates if you can,

1. Dismal River changes;

2. Tortola permitting, and updates?

Thanks

Welcome Brandon!

Did you play a role at Mayacama?

Any idea how far the 17th tee is from the clubhouse?  I'm playing in a scramble there with caddies/no carts...

Welcome.

Can you comment on this hole and approach shot...looks like the left side is to be avoided?

wow. . active board. . thanks for the welcome guys

some answers to the previous questions

Mike N-
I have had the opportunity to work with one of our shapers on parts of a few projects (Dismal, Bears Club, Bear Lakes). Its been a great learning experience so far. Ive been able to help build some holes, bunkers, float greens etc.  As Im sure is the case with everyone, our office has been effected by the recent economy.

Mike S-
I dont have any info to share at the moment on those,  Sorry. I will be posting more photos over time

Kyle-
I did not have a role in Mayacama. I have been with Nicklaus for 4 years, so that was before my time.

Kevin-
The hole plays just under 400 yds from the tips.  Anything left and short is trouble. The green has a bit of a false front, and you can easily suck it back off the green and down into the hollow if your short. You cant tell from the picture, but the green actually wraps around the hill on the right, and leaves the option for a partly blind pin (Probably could see the top of the flagstick)Very cool green complex. If i remember correctly, the green has  a front pin and then rises up to a pinnable plateau at the back left and everything that is hidden in this photo drains off the back right of the green
You may not be able to tell from the photo, but the day i played the wind was whipping from left to right, so i had to start the ball over the traps and let it drift back. . scary shot. . .

Can you comment on any recent changes to Dismal River?

Is it true that some changes were made?

We've heard rumors that there were some problems with wash outs and playability....

The courses in Oz, Victoria/Kinston Heath and Royal Melbourne just whet my appetite for golf.....absolutely wonderful how the bunkering looks and the brown firm look of the course.

Brandon,

Did Al teach you how to run a dozer at Dismal?

If so, you learned from a pretty talented guy. And I'm sure he had some stories for you.
