Richard you are wrong.  This is a list of courses you want to play but haven't YET.  Some of mine on the list are St. Andrews, and Askernish.  I will play them next year.  I am sure that many of the people who've posted courses on this thread will play the courses on this list in the near future.  If you've played every course you want to...great...good for you.  Interestingly enough, Tom Doak put up 5 courses of which I am sure he has the means to play but hasn't yet.  I am sure he will in the future.

What would be pretty cool is if people who have listed the same course link up and have some fun playing their dream courses together.  These lists could provide another chance for fellowship and golf for members of GCA with similiar interest in golf experiences.

Quite frankly, that is why I started this thread.  And I've already set up a foursome for a dream round with the help of this list and ones like it on the site and I am making arrangements to link up with other GCA'ers for rounds I've already booked and set up for my upcoming trip to Scotland.

Knowing what things would bring smiles to peoples faces is only a pointless exercise if you never take action to make those dreams come true.  Jim Colton started his pay it forward thread, has invited people to play his course...I hope this is the example that others seek to emulate.  I am inspired by him.  Others on this site have shown tremendous generosity and kindness to me, I hope I can return the favor and/or pay it forward.

Mac, I would agree with you if practically every list here did not include ANGC, Pine Valley, and Cypress Point.

Those are exclusive as exclusive gets. Even with generous members around here, the chance of any of us playing those courses are remote to say the least.

I think I have a better chance of hooking up with Jennifer Aniston than playing ANGC. So, what is the point of pining for it? Why don't you just enjoy what you have instead of dreaming about what you can't?

And if you have an opportunity share a round at one of those exclusive courses, do you really need to ask people around here if they "want" to play it? I am pretty sure most people around here would sell their first born for access to one of those courses.

Richard...I disagree.  I've met a lot of people who've played Augusta National.  If they did it, why can't you?

Perhaps this is simply a matter of life outlook.  I frankly think anything is possible.  I truly believe I will be a scratch golfer.  Absolutely 100% no doubt about it.  I absolutely believe I will play Augusta National, Cypress Point, Sand Hills, Muirfield, etc, etc, etc...no doubt about it.  It is just the way I think.  Others are different.  I get that and I won't debate this anymore because it is one of my biggest pet peeves in life.  If there is a will, there is a way.  I don't associate with negative people, neysayers, or doubters.  Why go through life that way?  Try to shoot for your dreams, what else do you have to do with your life?  And all this Jennifer Anniston stuff, WTF?!?  Again, if she is the kind of girl you want...try to meet her.

I'll stop now.  I am sorry if this comes off the wrong way, I am just typing off the cuff...but like I said this negative talk is my pet peeve.  Who dares wins!!

John, I said I have played every course that I want to play that I had the means to do so. Muirfield, TOC, and other great courses in UK would be nice, but the time and money required to do so have precluded me from doing so.

With all that money you're saving on tees......

I do somewhat see your point, but still can't see how there are no courses on your "one of these days" lists.  For example, I would really like to see Lookout Point (Travis) & Rutland CC (Stiles).  It may be ten years before I figure out it's going to take a special trip (or two trips) to do it, but I will go see them.  Not Augusta or Pine Valley, but really interesting to me.

John,

When you finally make that special trip to the Niagara Region, let me know and I'll be happy to make the call to Lookout Point on your behalf...tremendous golf course and there is more than enough accessible places in the area around Hamilton and Toronto (and London) to build a nice little golf vacation.

I think it is a given that everyone on this site would gladly accept a "reciprocal" from a top course. I think what would be more interesting to find out is, is there a top rated course where you would say "thanks, but no thanks?".

Let's say you are going to a conference in another city. Someone you know says "hey, I have a tee time this weekend at <insert a top rated course name here>. Do you want to join us?"

What are the top 2 or 3 courses where you would say "thanks, but not thanks" in that scenario? Personally, I don't know if I would even turn down an invitation, even to a muni if I have never played it before.

Richard - I'd say a day at a very modest club in great company would be far more enjoyable than a day at a top club with an a***hole.

1. Peachtree, its historical ties and relative lack of available information intrigue me.
2. Yeaman's Hall. As a member of a restored Seth Raynor course, I would love to see what they have there.
3. Pine Valley, obvious reasons.
4. Ballybunion
5. Royal County Down

In no particular order;

1. ANGC (Monday morning after the Masters...as Mac said, you've got to shoot for your dreams)
2. The Old Course (because it's the Old Course)
3. Pine Valley (because I've played CPC and can't imagine anything better)
4. Royal County Down (because I had a tee-time in 2006 and wasn't able to make it)
5. Sand Hills (because photos don't do courses justice but even so, Sand Hills looks incredible)

1.  Oakmont - is the only course in the top 50 I haven't played.  I've walked it 4-5 times but haven't been back since the trees came out.

2.  Banff Springs
3.  Jasper

4.  Teugega

5.  Lost Farm - so I can get back to Barnbougle and St. Andrews Beach, which I haven't played since Opening Day

Well, I've crossed one of the five off my list.  Unfortunately, it was number five.  I'll put Castle Stuart on to replace it, at least until Streamsong and Dismal River are open.  Not likely to play any of them the rest of this year, with my schedule!

I knocked off 3 of the home list (Milwaukee, Old Mac, and Forest Highlands) so to replace them I will add Princeville, Nanea, and Wolf Point.
