Just played Old Oaks in Purchase, NY last friday. I really enjoyed the course (A.W. Tillinghast ). I saw the old thread from a few years ago but wanted to see if anyone knew what the status, if there is any, for tree removal.
My only complaints with the course were that on a few holes I hit the ball to the correct side of the fairway to access the pin positon but had basically no shot and had to punch under branches due to overhanging trees (14 and 15 I think). I also found that some trees prevented you from taking the proper line off the tee to play the slope of the fairway correctly (like on number 10). I have only played 3 rounds here over the years so I am no expert on this course.
I think the course would really benefit from a well thought out tree removal plan. Just curious and thanks in advance for your thoughts.
