heading to West Palm Beach/Miami
« on: June 17, 2010, 05:40:34 PM »
am planning on seeing Seminole, which I'm beside myself w/aniticipation even though it is closed - a special thanks there to a someone who'll I'll not name.

Also will plan on playing Doral Blue, which I've heard mixed reviews on, but feel I have to after seeing the course so many times and have never been on a Dick Wilson design.

After that I'm at a loss w/out being able to play the private courses sadly, I think I'll play the Biltmore w/the nice history and being a Ross design that has been renovated recently I believe.   Miami Beach maybe?  The Breakers said I couldn't play there as I'm not staying there - odd they wouldn't want my money for a single low handicapper who will play fast and spend money in the pro shop.

any suggestions from some south Florida residents would be much appreciated - thanks!

Check out Park Ridge in West Palm, good muni track designed by a couple of guys from this site. And I hear that North Palm Beach muni is a good place to check out as well. If you want to look around Doral, do it, but I'd spend that money and play two other courses elsewhere.

I played North Palm Beach Golf & CC last weekend and I was amazed at how great it is. Especially for a low handicapper

Check out Del Ray Municipal. Great old Donald Ross for cheap. A tad North of West Palm and worth the drive.

Easy.  North Palm Beach municipal.  It is expensive in the winter, but very reasonable in the summer.  I was nearby a few days ago - no golf - but can tell you there are some excellent area seafood restaurants.  Ask the locals.  Great places can be found in strip malls.

Eric, got on Miami Beach with no issues. Even got a discount as a Canadian group.
Nice course, great staff. Greens were running at 12 which was a huge difference to Heron Bay's greens from the previous day which were in horrible condition.
