Riverton Country Club

Has anyone here played Riverton Country Club in South Jersey?  I know it's a Donald Ross design and it's private and I was thinking of playing it.

I just signed up to play there on June 24 for a GAP Member Play Day event.  I'll post after my experience.

I played there a few years ago in a GAP match. I loved it. It was sensitively restored by Ron Prichard, I believe. If I lived in Center City I would seriously consider joining there. If the rest of the members are like the two I played with that day then it has a wonderful membership as well.

Rick:

I've always been very fond of Riverton but I guess I never sat down and really thought why.

I just did though, and I suppose one reason is I felt I could play it well. I got to the semi-finals of the Phlly Amateur there one time, as I did at I think Wilmington and Cedarbrook, another course I've always liked. I just really liked Riverton because it suited my game. There aren't any super long par 4s on it and that helped me. I felt like if I could do OK and hold my own on the par 3s I could sort of float on the rest. I think the course just suited my eye and made me feel comfortable. Riverton was a course I felt like I could shoot par pretty easily if I was playing decent and that kind of expectation made it a good match play course for me. I had the same feeling at Cedarbrook, LuLu and Torresdale for some reason.

Tom ,
The course is about 20 minutes from my house and I have wanted to play it sometime in the near future.  I heard a lot of good things about the course

The GAP Member Day scheduled for June 24 has been cancelled as the minimum number of players was not met.  :(

Golf is a game.  It's purposed for fun and challenge.

Every time Anthony posts I'm reminded of this.
