Walking up the 6th at Pebble while 2 Navy hueys dropped Alan Shepard's (and his wifes) ashes into Stillwater cove, just as 4 jets came screaming out of the south, only to have one go vertical, when they reached the hueys. (Missing man formation) The sound was deafening and the moment was the coolest thing ever.

Playing Cypress point in the Caddie Cup, walking up the 2nd hole only to be greeted by a Red Fox, jogging the other way, barking the whole time.

Playing the 4th at Paa-Ko-Ridge and having my recently departed cat, Shamus, dig a deep bowl and take a pee right in front of the super.

Making it to the 7th tee at Pebble two under par in my first round there, before the wheels came off (5-5-5 to finish the front nine followed by a 42 on the back for an 80).

Three thoughts:

Matching Loren Roberts birdie for birdie in a Pro-Am some years back.  We each made 4, though he didn't have the myriad doubles and triples that ruined my card.

Playing a deserted Stone Eagle in 2007 in a twosome with Al Geiberger, and virtually nobody else on the GC.  Or as I called it, Mr 59 vs. Mr. 89

I had a college tournament where I played much better than expected, and the next time I saw my coach (he wasn't there that day) was a lot of fun.  I could say the particular good round I had in perfect conditions at Arcadia Bluffs a couple years ago was a high point.

But my best moment was a couple years ago at the Arcadia (CA) Par Three course.  My dad started taking my brother and me there about 25 year ago when were kids, and it's where I learned the game.  My dad hasn't been in very good health the last few years, but at that time, he was at a point where he could get around for 18 holes on a par three course with the use of a cart.  I hadn't played this course since I was in high school, and it's nothing to write home about.  I don't think I ever shot anything better than two or three over out there.  I was home for a quick vacation of a couple days, and we went out there play.  I hit 17 greens, made eight birdies, and shot seven under.  Doing that at any time would have been fun, but doing it in front of my dad made it a lot more special.

My best moment by far, is playing with 6 year old son who loves golf and my 9 year old daughter who at the time hated golf.  She played with us, but pouted and mooped around the course.  Until on a 113 yard par 3, she unloaded on a massive tee shot and drove the green.

From that day forward she loves playing golf and is always looking for a game.

Classic moment which I hope to never forget!

Walking off 16 at Pac Dunes.

  Anthony

16 must be your lucky number as I was going to say my best moment was....

Watching Anthony Gray tap in for quintuple bogey 8 at the 134 yard par three 16th at Diamante and sprint through the sand to the oasis like station offering "Diamante water alongside the 17th tee... attended by the lovely Alma.

I was moved by your grinding on the putt for 8 and the John Wall like speed with which you traversed the sand and dunes bewteen the 16th green and 17th tee. Brought a tear to my eye it did.

My high school team winning both the Founders League and Kingswood Invitational tournaments my sophomore year in high school.

I've got the CT Am coming up next week (my first ever); maybe I'll have a new one in a few days  ;)
