New entries to GB&I Top 100?
« on: June 14, 2010, 10:32:46 AM »
We're due a Golf World list this year.

Which courses do you guys feel should appear on the list?

I'd love to see Huntercombe get some credit for being as good as it is, and I think Renaissance deserves to debut, though I wonder if enough raters will have played it.

I guess Castle Stuart is a lock, from what a bunch of you have said after playing it.

I am like a broken record...I can only see four courses I know that don't belong and could drop out:

St Mellion
Belfry
Nefyn
Southport & Ainsdale

So my replacement four that I think have a chance to be voted in are:

Wallasey
Camberley Heath
Beau Desert
Princes

Though it seems hard to belive that there is no place for Pennard and Kington.  Huntercombe is another on the edge, but like Kington and Pennard it will never get voted in.  I also think Cavendish should be there, but it too will never be voted in.

There are a few others that always shake my head; Tralee and Hillside for instance, but they are certain locks because of towering dunes no matter how poorly they used.

Ciao

New plays planned for 2025: Ludlow, Machrihanish Dunes, Dunaverty and Carradale

The last list (Nov' 2008) was strange because they had always had a rule that a course needed to be open for an entire year before it was eligible... But it seemed they changed that so that they could rush the Castle Course in... Renaissance possibly got caught up in that rush and therefore had a low publicity debut in the 100-200 category that they also give...  I suspect it will stay there this year but I'd like to see it break the top 100 and it might just sneak in... I fully expect Castle Stuart to debut as high as the 30's or 40's... I'd be interested to see what they do with Mach Dunes...
